I thought, I'd start a thread where we gather different ideas for Christmas presents for older teenagers, as I usually am at a loss as to what to get my DD 16. What are you planning to surprise your teens with this year? Any great ideas are most welcome. Smile

Vague thank you! Looks great, might get that too. I am thinking of making a make-up hamper, just to see her face when she sees it and later realises that it is not filled with cheese and jams Smile
MeDented this is a fab idea! Please send some links if there are any. I was planning this for next year as I did not realise they offer lessons etc for under 17 also. Would be very interested to find out more.

My sisters are 15 and 17, 17 and brother 19. I find these the easiest to buy for out of everyone (1 of 8) I struggle with the older siblings 30 and 33.
The 15 year old wants makeup and I spend a lot of time buying make up. Depending on budget benefit do really nice sets and the make up is quite good. Mac is popular with teens (always packed when I go in there).
Urban decay do great eyeshadow. She's asked mum for the PS4. Also she loves the lush bath bombs.
17 1 likes pandora and the rings Hmmalthough I personally prefer the Thomas sabo charm bracelets. She's also obsessed with handbags and plan on buying her a purse from river island or accessories. She asked for timberlands.
They both do dance like 4 times a week so like all the addias leggings from jd to wear in between classes and trainers.
17 2 isn't as girly and likes consoles she likes the ginger bread stuff you can get in boots around this time of year. Last year she asked for a gaming chair and sure she would love the customised game controller. She's also known to use a whole bottle of perfume within two days so tend to stick to the Katy perry perfumes as they quite cheap.
19 b has just got his own place so getting home stuff for Christmas from us. He however likes the walking dead/ games of thrones. There's slot of board games and comics for both of these as well as box sets.
I can remember really liking the daisy perfumes when I was his age.
My mum would also get tickets throughout the year for shows/concerts

The young driver experiences are great, both my son and daughter got them for their 16th birthdays and really enjoyed it

swingofthings · 16/11/2016 11:12

I got the young driver thing too when DD was 15 (and son was 12). I got it with Tesco vouchers, so cost me nothing! They really loved it. They got two hours and I was quite pleasantly surprised at what they got them to do for a first time. DD was all pleased that she got into 3rd gear! They had to do maneuvers, parking etc....so quite a good simulation of what a 'normal' driving lesson would be.

DD usually gives me a long list of clothes/shoes/bags I can order online. She won't get much this year though because we are going away on a very special holiday and she doesn't know that I have booked for us to swim with dolphins, a dream of hers since she was a toddler!

Puzzledmum · 16/11/2016 11:26

Swing swimming with dolphins is a great experience. You will love it.
My DD is getting the whole driving lessons, tests etc next year when she will be 17, so this Christmas will be lots of small items (make up etc and many of the things you all recommended). Many thanks All.

Not always a happy experience for the dolphins.

Ds16 main gift either TomTom or Garmin fitness watch am waiting for Black Friday deals. New running Trainers then just odds and ends mostly food based.

kavvLar · 16/11/2016 20:22

I just got a smartphone projector from Sainsburys, in their seasonal aisle looks kind of retro and only £15, might be worth a look

YippeeTeenager · 27/11/2016 11:43

Just ordered the bubble tea kit, thanks for that idea. We've block booked ten driving lessons for DD (16 now but birthday soon in New Year). But I still need a few little prezzie ideas so any more thoughts very welcome here! She's asked for white chocolate and a bag of those mix up crisps!

misshelena · 28/11/2016 04:58

For last two years, dd16yo's Christmas list consists mainly of gifts she wants to exchange with her friends.

So last year, I bought her 5 matching necklaces for her and the 4 girls on her "squad", a ring for a bestie not part of her squad, a bag for another bestie also not part of her squad. And a couple gift cards to her favorite stores.

This year so far, bought two massage sessions for dd and a bestie who has asked for time with dd; athletic equipment and framed photo for boyfriend of 9 mos. Not yet heard about what her squad is exchanging this year, hopefully something super cheap.
