When putting away their clothes (I know, I know, they should do it themselves!) a tip is, instead of folding them and putting them away in layers, fold then roll them into little rolls which fit neatly in the drawer in one layer and they can see in a glace what they need.

... I meant glance not glace

They still pull them out and store them on the floor in a crumpled heap.

I agree with bobalinga -I was going to say you could stop this thread title after 'drawers'

suedonim · 11/01/2007 16:12

Mine put neatly folded stuff to be washed again rather than put it back into the drawer!! Mind you, now the youngest of the older three is 19, they're on their own wrt to clothing etc.

You mean they still do it when they are teenagers? DS1 does it now and he's 8. Have i got years of this ahead of me

fizzbuzz · 11/01/2007 17:08

They are all the same.....

iota · 11/01/2007 17:09

saltire - so do mine - they are 7 and 5 - [sigh]

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 11/01/2007 17:16

Mine do that too suedonim - and the eldest, who never has any washing when I ask always manages to find a huge pile just as the washer is full of water.

Out of necessity he now knows how to use the washer and can do his own ironing. But then he leaves the iron on for the whole day - just to spite me I think.

fizzbuzz · 11/01/2007 17:20

Ds complained to me the other day, that he had no school trousers or shirts......and guess where they were?.....

Scattered all over the bedroom floor, instead of in laundry bin(surely not THAT hard)

saltire · 11/01/2007 17:34

I can never find pyjama bottoms or school polo shirts, they are the 2 things that DS1 seems to lose, then i'll find them in heaps under the bed, or behind the drawers

bobalinga · 12/01/2007 11:05

It gets worse as they become teenagers. Mine will also, when asked to bring down dirty washing, just scoop up everything on their floor, most of which is clean and shove it in the machine. Seems quicker than putting it in drawers!
My 14 yo also seems to think I have a magic washing machine than can wash and dry in 10 minutes as she always asks 10 minutes before she wants to wear said clothes.

brandy7 · 12/01/2007 11:08

ive given up in this department now, too teach ds aged 12 a lesson i didnt fold any of his clothes and shoved them in his drawer in balls. obviously he complained till i pointed out that thats what he does himself.bloody annoying

fizzbuzz · 12/01/2007 13:17

Yes, put ds's clean and ironed clothes outside his beroom door. He is meant to take them away and hang them up etc.

Current pile is like Leaning Tower of Pisa, only bigger!

bobalinga · 12/01/2007 14:56

I don't iron anything so that cuts down on the work. Dd (14) did complain about this so I told her to go buy and iron and ironing board if she wanted ironed clothes.
She hasn't ;-)

Lol at all these tales - bless their litle teenage hearts!
