Right that's it- no cooking for a week!

Dd1 (15) is a bloody fussy eater, I try to accommodate her (kept thinking it was a phase and didn't want to make it an issue) but still try to get some healthy meals in to her. Tonight she threw her toys out of the pram when I mentioned tonights dinner. I'm completely sick of it so I've given her £10 for any odd ingredients, plus access to home food and told her she will be cooking her own meals for a week. She's lazy and not a great cook, I'm hoping this will be painful for her so that after this she will either stop moaning or cook more of her own meals.
Is this a stupid idea? Do you think it will backfire?

Sounds as much as you could have hoped for then.
I don't think you were harsh. She needed teaching!

Please please please please teach your daughter to cook!!
How will she manage when she moves out if she can hardly boil an egg!

She does need to learn to cook. I was astonished when I moved into halls and had to teach someone how an oven switched on a show them how to cook oven chips Hmm

You have inspired me to make half term 'cook a dinner' week! DH normally cooks in this house, so DS 14, DD 12 and I are sharing out the evening meals.

So far we've had: Thai chicken curry on Monday (DD), some Nigel Slater spaghetti and pancetta thing on Tuesday (DS), pork in Marsala sauce on Wednesday (me - very good) and chicken in pesto sauce last night (DD).

Definitely doing it again in Easter hols.

Not harsh at all overdue I'd say

Your DH must be a mega soft touch which probably contributes to her attitude.
