I seem to have the worst contract in existence! How much do other people pay for their phones/iPads/etc?

No contract. £7.50 month Virgin sim only monthly rolling deal in a motog that was £100 ( though dd2 has the huwaei phone we tested for mn still !)

£8.50pm

500mb data
5000 texts
Can't remember if it's 250 or 300mins call time (I only ever use about 10mins, tops)

With Talk Mobile, but dh has a pretty similar deal with virgin.
Can't understand why people pay out £40odd pm.

iPhone 6 unlimited everything £29 a month
iPhone 5c unlimited everything £22 a month

Both from upgrades with 3.. We are heavy users. When I upgrade I look at what the competitors are doing to haggle. I also reset all the data and calls every month so I can see
For my self.. Gives an idea to see if I can use x minute/net/text package.

Sim only from Three - unlimited data, loads and loads and of texts and calls (virtually unlimited but I can't quite remember what it is). also allows tethering. Brilliant value if you travel abroad to certain countries (15 of them) where you get the same allowence as if you were at home.

£15

3 was definitely the best for capping contracts. We had zero caps for the dc and loads of free to 3 minutes so they never had an excuse of not contacting us because they ran out of minutes. However despite us having 4 contracts for many years, they were not good at negotiating upgraded and their call centre really have the most annoying staff that will not deviate from the script

I have just entered into a new contract having had an ancient iPhone (must be 7 years old) for a long time because I wanted more phone memory.

iphone 6 plus 64gb - £39 a month 24 month contract - Tesco mobile (been with them for 7 years too) - 2000 mins, 5000 texts and 4gb data.

I am a 'light' user apparently - only went for this one because it was £3 more than an ordinary iPhone. Has to be an iPhone so that it syncs with everything else here. I have lots of reference books on it and my music library for long drives - bit of an indulgence really but I hope it last me another 7 years!

Was previously paying £10 a month on pay as you go after my old contract expired, this new contract includes £13 for the phone/texts/data and £26 for the phone (interest free).

We have a 2nd iPhone for my teenager on a ??15 pm sim only contract.
My son is nearly preteen and has a Samsung youth from tesco at ??7.50 pm
My youngest isn't 9 yet but is already asking when she can have a phone. I'll wait til my son gets an upgrade and she can have his old one on whichever cheapest sim only contract I can find when the time comes. Wink

TuTru · 09/09/2015 13:21

Oh yes, forgot they both have capped contracts and for a while we made my teenage daughter's one unable to send/receive photographs.

SquadGoals · 09/09/2015 13:32

I usually buy my phones outright - currently using iPhone 5S bought for ??80 refurbished.

I pay ??5 on giffgaff.

asreel · 09/09/2015 13:40

I pay on average ??10 a month for 100 mins/unlimited texts/unlimited data on an old T Mobile tariff. This suits my needs well and I only go over my allowance for certain phone numbers outside my plan or when I go abroad. I use quite a lot of data but don't text or call much at all.

I used to get a free phone every time I upgraded but the tariff is no longer available and they are trying to push me on to a new (more expensive) EE contract. Now I get a free phone every few years as DH gives me his old one (he gets his free from work). Usually fairly decent smartphones but always a couple of years out of date!
