Here's mine, DD 13yrs, bit of background - she had horrendous excema up until a few months ago 'til I discovered the fab aveeno cream plus she's always misplacing her glasses (trust me there is a connection).

Anyway I was leaving for work one day last week and she was getting ready for school and she had asked me for some money for school at breakfast. I call to her room to say goodbye and I add "I've put the money you wanted next to your school bag, here's your glasses and don't forget to apply your cream "(she always forgets!). What do I get? A look to kill and "mum, you're always nagging, you never stop nag nag nag". In my dreams I got "ok, thanks mum, love you, have a good day at work"

Opens gin and pours a large one.

DS is away on a school trip. He hasn't packed a coat, or any shoes other than the ones he is wearing, but he took phone plus charger, tablet plus charger, portable tv, games console and enough handsets for those sharing his room and enough food to feed the five thousand.

I'm already having a rare Monday evening Wine

DH is working away, and just phoned home. He spoke to me and the two younger DC. I said to DS1 "Dad wants to speak to you", and handed him the phone.

His reply was "About what?" with exasperated hand gesture, and refused to take the phone.

It is my fault that dds asos parcel has gone missing thanks to bloody Hermes. Of course. Does tequila count?

DD, notoriously fussy eater, wanted to 'widen her gastronomic horizons' on holiday in Italy. She consumed 14 Margherita pizzas in 12 days. She justified this completely as all were eaten in a different restaurant each time.
(and she's still a bloody size 6!)
Bitter? Me?? Nooo!!

Currently me and the teen are hunting Easter eggs on dying light. I'm twitching because he plays different to me.

I want him to find them using his game so I know what to expect when I look on mine.
He has his moments but he's a mint kid. Grin

I come on threads like this just to scare myself. DD1 is almost 12 and still lovely. I was a holy terror and massive bitch to my poor DMum as a teen.

But I still find myself sitting here thinking "I will nevair allow the DDs to speak to me like that!!! My DDs will be respectful and want to spend time with me! They surely will never be embarrassed by me and even if they are I won't give in! I will still insist on kisses and cuddles and walking them to the coach holding hands and it will be fine!"

Yeah, right.

Is it kind of like before you have a baby and you think to yourself "What is all the fuss about, I will be able to get oodles of stuff done when the baby is asleep" and then you actually have the baby and don't wash your hair for 6 months?

DS1 has come down for a forage in the kitchen. The hot dinner sandwich obviously wasn't enough.

He has made arrangements to meet his mates in town tomorrow. he has asked me what time 'the train' is. Confused 'There's lots of trains DS what time do you want to go?' DS-blank face.
So I ask him what time the film is-blank face again.

Hmm

My Dd is going to London on Wednesday with my niece. She has never lived in England. I am doing life learning skills a little bit late in life for her. She is going to be here full time from next year. I am scared. I was the same myself, expat brat, but my knowledge of trains, tubes, planes etc was much more.

LolSparklingbrook Ds15 came home from school at 4pm and had a bowl of chicken soup and a packet of crisps, had bowl of pasta at 5.30pm, chicken risotto at 7pm. Half a tub of ice cream at 8pm and two bowls of cereal and a pint of milk at 9pm. Will not get out of bed for school unless he is brought breakfast in bed....

DD spends approximately 40 hours a week horizontal. That's outside of normal sleeping hours.

She is completely able bodied, but chooses to live like someone who is severely disabled and bed bound.

She's been diagnosed with depression and I'm wondering to what extent the depression has caused the apathy, and to what extent the apathy and laziness have caused the depression. The lazing started years before the depression was diagnosed. I'm always dreading being asked 'what does your child do when they're not at school,' because the answer would be 'lies on the sofa or in bed, with the remote control in one hand and her phone in the other. All. The. Time'. :-(

I'm utterly knackered all the time, but I would be depressed if all I did was slob around in bed or on the sofa day after day.

DD18 - ( just finished 'As') "I think I'll rewrite my CV today and take it round a few places later."
Me - "Oh jolly good - I'll finish work work early and take you to drop them off." (we're quite rural!)
Me - (dashing in from work) "Are you ready then?"
DD - "Oh. I haven't done it yet, I've not had time."
Me - "What have you been doing for 7 hours?"
DD - "Well, I've had a shower"......

Ok so ventured into ds2s bedroom earlier today and discovered 8 days worth of uneaten lunches under his bed. Have said that I won't be wasting time preparing his lunch in the future and have pointed him in the direction of various sandwich fillings etc. he has been taking money in to buy stuff in the canteen.
His response? I don't have time to make my lunch in the mornings I'll be late for school.
Well make them the night before them Sunshine. Grin
God that's so unfair, I have been working so hard at school etc controlled assessments blah, blah, blah.
