how the hell do i get dust/mud/grass stains out of them? vanish and hot wash? top shop stretchy ones say 40 degrees on label. surely 60 wont kill them?

I know this might be a bit off topic but I couldn't find a topic for 'uptight 50s housewife'.

This thread is hilarious!

TurnItIn · 04/07/2015 19:29

Seriously - soak them in the sink with a washing powder capsule before forcing getting DD to run them through the machine. It's like magic!

Tru Dat.

Gymbob · 04/07/2015 19:46

fuck, mine has just bought a pair of these today. they actually came out of the plastic bag (mail order) with pink and what looks like a tea stain on Sad

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/07/2015 19:49

Carpet cleaner, my Mum swore by it for my white jeans, luckily dd hasn't wanted them yet.

Soak them overnight in vanish & COLD water. Don't use hot or it will set the stain.

Then a normal 40 degree wash with more vanish in.

LavenderRain · 04/07/2015 20:37

Arf at motherfucker

I feel your pain OP, I have to continuously wash cricket whites. I have taken to rubbing the bastarding grass stain with either vanish or liquid detergent and then giving it a squirt of flash with bleach
Then wash on 50 degrees, good luck!

downgraded · 04/07/2015 20:41

I'm crying here Grin

BitOfABoost · 04/07/2015 20:47

Have you tried hanging them to dry in the sun? Not sure if it works on grass but I have successfully removed both turmeric and tomato stains from my white jeans after letting the power of the sun on them.

Rachie1986 · 04/07/2015 20:52

This is an amazing thread!

RepeatAdNauseum · 04/07/2015 20:56

I have white jeans. The grass stains etc come out easily if I wash at 30 with vanish stain remover poured on.

Don't need to do a second wash or anything.

manechanger · 04/07/2015 21:05

just showed the thread to dd, she was not amused, was disgusted by the language and also the idea that she should put them under cold water and rub meat on them. Admittedly she has not Read The Full Thread.

She is now armed with a vanish stick rather than a steak and is making a particularly lacklustre effort.

OverAndAbove · 05/07/2015 18:07

That's the first time I've seen "Tru Dat" in print

Weepin', muthafucka Grin

GaryBaldy · 05/07/2015 22:50

Proffering white powder in tru gangsta style can I add biotex into da mix?

#laundrygoals

snice · 05/07/2015 23:02

don't wash Top Shop jeans above 30 degrees-they have a bit of Lycra in them and 40degrees will knacker it
Bio liquid plus vanish plus 30 degree wash will sort them

nooka · 07/07/2015 07:29

I leave all washing dilemmas to my teenagers to sort out for themselves with their dad's advice or the internet to help. Not my area of expertise! Still I think I might bookmark this thread just in case I should ever in a fit of madness buy white jeans and need to clean them - much wisdom here, and so much more colourful than most cleaning related advice Grin

MyballsareSandy · 07/07/2015 07:47

Love this thread Grin.

DD has a pair of these white top shops jeans and she managed to spill a raspberry smoothie down one leg recently. I sprayed vanish on them, put them on a 60 deg wash with a scoop of the vanish crystals and they came out perfect. Hope I haven't damaged the lycra though, they look ok!

The days of us choosing practical clothes in reasonable colours are long gone! Don't get me started on the vile fake tan she's experimenting with, looks naaaaasty. I'm really not liking the white jeans/orange body look at all.

EducationalWelfareMakeMeCry · 07/07/2015 07:56

My dd spilt nail varnish down her white jeans, and this Motherfucker bought them.

Out a here, you sexy Motherfuckers.

Milliways · 07/07/2015 09:06

De-solv-it gets any stain out of clothes, oil, curry, ketchup, it's magic! I get it in Aldi when they stock it. Spray on both sides of fabric then bung in machine. (Then slide over where tHe spray turns your kitchen tiles into an ice rink Grin )

GaryBaldy · 07/07/2015 15:07

This has got to be the most hilarious teen / good housekeeping / gangsta mash-up thread ever.

manechanger · 08/07/2015 23:32

yeah didn't go so great despite all the advice. went with dd soaking jeans overnight then washing in 30 degrees. the old stains went but new ones were introduced. I decided to leave them on the line for 3 days because I couldn't be arsed to bring them in to let the sun bleach them and it does seem to help. dd is oblivious to all and doesn't seem at all bothered by any stains on the jeans which is possibly why she is happy to buy white jeans in the first place...

OP posts:
manechanger · 08/07/2015 23:34

think i would make dd strip if she even looked at a raspberry smoothie.
