DS strange medication in room

DrKlazon · 09/05/2015 16:17

My DS who is 17 has 'Dapoxetine 30mg' blister packs in his room!

This is an anti-depressant drug but he does not seem depressed and it is not prescribed from our GP but a Hospital.

What should I do?

talk to him.

3littlefrogs · 09/05/2015 16:19

Talk to him. Ask him why he has it and where he got it from.
Don't be confrontational, just ask him gently if he is having any problems.
Offer your help and support if he needs it.

Was it in easy view or were you rummaging?

Catswiththumbs · 09/05/2015 16:20

Err you know full well from googling it it isn't used a anti depressant any more Hmm

Why don't you go to his bridge room and speak to him?

OneMagnumisneverenough · 09/05/2015 16:21

Well, I've just googled it and the predominant hits are saying that it is meant to make sex last longer and is prescribed for premature ejaculation so maybe he has it for a different reason than you think?

3littlefrogs · 09/05/2015 16:22

Ah.
Just googled.
Hmm

ouryve · 09/05/2015 16:22

Um, yeah, google is pretty clear what it's for, even without clicking.

Is it prescribed to him? There's usually a name on a dosage label.

DrKlazon · 09/05/2015 16:24

He is 17 years old. He can't be suffering from premature ejaculation.

PerspicaciaTick · 09/05/2015 16:26

Why not?
Simplest thing is to talk to him.

Ocho · 09/05/2015 16:26

maybe he's using it just for fun OP not to treat PE

Micah · 09/05/2015 16:27

Funniest thing I've heard in a while Grin

Ohbollocksandballs · 09/05/2015 16:27

I'd say stop rooting through his things.

A 17 year old is definitely capable of experiencing premature ejaculation. I remember being that age very well Grin

GinAndSonic · 09/05/2015 16:29

Dont ALL 17yo boys experience premature ejaculation?

DrKlazon · 09/05/2015 16:29

What do you mean fun?? I am going to talk to my husband and have a sit down with him over it.

OP posts:
sanquhar · 09/05/2015 16:31

perhaps he is "looking after it" for your dh someone else?

LaurieFairyCake · 09/05/2015 16:32

Well clearly he wants to delay ejaculation

It's not hard (!) to work out.

GinAndSonic · 09/05/2015 16:33

Sorry OP, bit flippant. At 17 i had lots of male friends and some did experinent with drugs intended to boost their sexual performance in some way. Some boys are worried they arent lasting long enough, etc.
Talk to him?

PerspicaciaTick · 09/05/2015 16:34

Why not talk to him first?

Discussing his (possible) medical problems behind his back with a) a public forum and b) your DH is a massive break of trust. And it sounds like you are planning to do the "united front/interview panel" thing which is very threatening and bound to put your DS on the defensive before you even begin a conversation.

Honestly - just talk to your son. You know - speak to him as you would hope people would speak to you if they were concerned.

NightsOfGethsemane · 09/05/2015 16:34

Was it prescribed for him?

He has a right to keep his health concerns to himself. Why would you question him?

ginmakesitallok · 09/05/2015 16:35

Assuming that he has been prescribed it then that could be an interesting conversation.

KingJoffreyFanciesDarylDixon · 09/05/2015 16:38

Put them back and leave him alone.

He's 17. He needs his privacy. Let him be.

ItBites · 09/05/2015 16:40

"Discussing his (possible) medical problems behind his back with a) a public forum and b) your DH is a massive break of trust."

I don't see any names or addresses here?

HollyJollyDillydolly · 09/05/2015 16:41

Has it actually been prescribed for him or has he bought it online (if you can get that online)?
I'd be more worried about where he's got it from than premature ejaculation.

ginmakesitallok · 09/05/2015 16:41

Oh and I imagine that they are hospital prescribed rather than gp prescribed as he's gotten them from a serial health clinic rather than gp? I agree with pp who says to leave him alone and respect his privacy.
