Study for a levels next year

How much study does your pre a leveller actually do. My child has not yet opened a book this weekend and it's driving me crazy but I'm trying really hard to say nothing. He is aiming for all A's but I can't see it myself . He says to stop fussing that he will work harder next year. He did really well in gcse. I just want him to achieve his potential.

My ds was a bit like this. He did really well in GCSE's without doing much work at all whilst at home but he got a bit of a shock when he did his AS levels last year and didnt do as well as he thought he would. I think its a big shock to the system going from GCSE's to A levels, especially the way they used to do GCSE's in modules, a section at a time. Ds has had to change his plans for uni now as he was also aiming for all A's but realistically that is not going to happen.

I can sympathise with you. I worry about this as well (also got dd doing no work for gcse's) but what can we do about it as you cant force them to study.

Curly hair thanks for replying. It's a shame when they don't apply themselves and with my ds it's just because he likes enjoying himself too much and loves to relax (his word not mine) he spends hours on his PC designing web pages with friends.

My DS has also struggled to focus on his AS studies - which showed in his Mock results in January. He will be retaking them this week after some serious chats from college and us and lots of work this past few weeks. Hoping to see some major improvements - if not he knows that he'll need to re-think his future plans.
Has your son done his mocks yet? If so they should be a good indication of whether he has done enough work - and give you a starting point for discussions.

How did he do in his mocks? They are a really good indicator of whether he is on track.
We just had parent's evening for DS2. Every teacher was very clear, exams are 10 weeks away and revision should start now.

He did well enough , passed everything well enough. But he is so capable of As . His teachers said he is great but could work harder. I made him get up at midday and I made him a big lunch of his favourite foods and he did an hour of maths . Went off with his friends then.
