DSD age 14 is with us fairly often, but is at mums tonight. I went into her room today and saw that she had left her dirty shirt on the floor, no big deal, picked it up to put in the wash, underneath was 2 pairs of dirty knickers, both with used sanitary towels still attached. This is not the first time and I have already spoken to her about this. I just find it really disgusting. I'm not the worlds tidiest person, but this is just ewwwww. I left them there, part of me wants to deal with it so I am not living in a dirty house, but part of me thinks that cleaning up after her won't help. Is this normal or should I be worried. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

DD 11 has started her period this week, Ive already read her the riot act to wrap her towels up and put them in the bin, because frankly hobos are more hygienic than she is,she is always stuffing dirty knickers and socks into drawers, her rooms disgusting
I am on strike ATM as I don't see why I should have to tidy her shit up anymore

We generally get on really well, so I don't think its that. I think its just lazy and thoughtless probably.

DD 12 has done this once or twice. I really don't think it's a dirty protest. 'Scatterbrain' sums it up.

Patrickstarisabadbellend · 15/11/2014 12:33

My dd does this too. I have told her that if I find anymore used sanitary towels in get bedroom again I will put them on her peg at school.

It's not embarrassment, it's just plain laziness.

NoMarymary · 15/11/2014 12:36

Just leave them in a bag on her bed and say nothing.

It's pretty yuk but teens are odd creatures!

Idiotdh · 16/11/2014 21:30

Well it could be embarrassment...no one wants other people seeing their private stuff like this so maybe bin in her room plus bags and then she bins them herself in a plain bin bag?

notanevilstepmother · 16/11/2014 21:39

She already has a bin in her room after last time. Its either laziness or scatterbrain. Anyway she has apologised and promised not to do it again.

OP - I'd tie them all in a plastic bag and when her friends are over, give them back!

How embarrassing! Like girls don't have enough to contend with during their periods & puberty without their bloody parents adding to it.

We are about to hit this stage with dd1, who isn't the tidiest person in the world & with a dd2 around, I wouldn't be able to just leave them on the floor for her to find!

So, as it is only blood I would pick them up, separate them & make sure I had a very good & long chat with dd as to how to deal with it.

I'm a bit surprised teenage girls use sanitary towels. They should be able to use what they like, personally, my dd hates the thought of tampons! It's an each to their own thing!

Wouldn't say it is necessarily a dirty protest (that would require too much effort from the teenage mind). I literally just told my 2 teenage daughters (who do love me very much and have nothing to protest) that if this exact thing happens again, their phones are gone. They are complete slatterns. I am working to change them. Not sure how it happened as I have been on them about hygiene/cleaning up for years now.

Of course don't accept it but don't read too much personal into it either
