Any advice or tips gratefully welcomed thanks
So my dd has got a group interview for lush next week for her first job as a Christmas temp
The interview is the first of multiple stages and it being her first job interview she is slightly daunted at prospect.
There is supposed to be around 35 people on the night dd attends with only 1 maybe 2 potential jobs
You have to Create a cv, cover letter that promotes the shops ethos and write a rap, song, poem to perform aswell as making yourself a decorative name badge and bring an item that represents yourself ! I can't believe the amount of things for a first stage of interview is this normal for weekend Christmas temps ? And its supposed to last from 2 to 3 hours
So any tips from people who have experience of lush or group interviews and of what to wear ?
Is it really worth my dd spending money on materials for cv/cover letter and name badge when she has no retail experience and there is 34 other candidates ?

No advice i'm afraid, but blimey that sounds intense for a Christmas temp job! Is it for a full time position? I can't believe they want her to do so much!

My friend went to one. She had a wealth of experience but didn't get the job Hmm.
They like you to look and act 'kooky' and stick out. So dress formally but different. Have an exciting story to tell, be loud and confident and know all about the the products!
Most group job interviews for retail are not so intense!

It's for a weekend job from mid November till end of December she's anxious about it as after a search online it seems from other people group interviews experience a lot of drama/performing arts students apply and its difficult to get your voice across. In encouraging here to go in confident and its for the experience if nothing else, she's applying for a role of a Christmas grotto which she seems to have much more enthusiasm for so I hope she is successful in her application for that one instead !

Lush like people with personality, and creativity. If your dd is outgoing and friendly, knows her mind and ideally is interested in aesthetics (no matter what style), tell her to just be absolutely herself, and if the manager thinks she's the right fit for the store she'll get the job. Tell her to try to have fun with it and be herself, rather than stressing about what's 'right'. Also, not to be too downcast if she doesn't get it - lots of times the managers are looking for someone who fits with their other staff, which can mean it's not about who's 'best' but who's 'right'.

For her sake, I hope she doesn't get it. They are awful to temps, they really are! She should not spend any money on things.
People at Lush get no right, are not allowed to join a union, are bullied, pushed, made to work overtime with no extra money...
