DD 14 had two friends to sleep over. One of them is a fairly new friend I have only met her once .
DD had her birthday money in a box on her dresser the girls decided to sleep downstairs .New friend got up early and left .DD gets up and discovers her £20 has gone .I know it was in there as i'd checked that evening (to check DD hadn't wasted it nosey i know).
I search whole house every inch with DD and friend 2 it has gone. DD calls friend 1 and asks her she denied as expected said "she didn't even have a pound of her own on her" . DDs other friend says this girl is in town buying make up. So very awkward.
What would you do? No hard evidence but suspicious indeed .

You can't do anything really as you have no evidence. Maybe her mum gave her some money to buy make-up. Just chalk it up to experience and keep money somewhere safe.

Unfortunately I don't think there is much you can do. Obviously you won't invite that friend again! Tell DD to be careful with any money she might take with to school etc.

Yep there is nothing you can do sadly. Sometimes 2 + 2 = 5 and just because all signs point to your DD's friend you really have no evidence bar circumstantial.

I suspect your DD will always suspect this friend and their friendship will probably suffer/cease because of it. If this friend has stolen then 1) she will probably do it again to someone else and potentially get caught and 2) she will have to live with the consequences, ie less friends.
