What time during term time on a Saturday night do you give a 16 yo as curfew. ? I insisted she came home at 1.30 but then came in with friends and I had to go in twice and tell her off and of course I get the look from her! AIBU?

Not sure I'd give a 6th former a curfew at all tbh.... Context is everything - I started going to nightclubs in 6th form and didn't get home till 4am. So I'd like to know where they are and who with and an expected time home (and method of getting home), but more for safety than any other reason.

3 or 4 am if at a party or club, 12 if at a pub, hanging round at the park drinking cider - back by 10 pm pleaseGrin

At a friends house - 1.30'seems reasonable actually, but I'd not expect sleepover guests to be quiet! Although I'd expect to be asked in advance if friends are staying over.

My 16 year old is allowed out to a party usually until about 12. We have to pick him up as we live in a rural area.

The OP says the sixth former is 16 so shouldn't be at pubs or clubs. I would say it depends whether it is a party or hanging around in a park. It also depends on whether you are collecting an what you time you have to be up the next day.
I would also expect DC and guests here on a sleepover to have some consideration for others in the house.
My DD is 19 and I expect her to tell me if she is going to be later 10:30. Not a curfew but again consideration for the fact I might worry about her

If my dd isn't at a friends house for a sleepover then I would pick her up at 12! She is 16 too.

Def in by 11.30/midnight at 16 unless a special reason. They shouldn't be in pubs/ clubs and I'm not facilitating a child who wishes to put them self in a potentially dangerous situation.

Not to mention mums/ dad's taxi at stupid o'clock (I'd rather drop everyone home than suggest other peoples parents do it who might not be so averse to drinking and driving etc - big city and certainly getting eldest from work at midnight or later it looks like all the cars are either badly driven taxis or poor/drunk drivers. )

Mind you my 15yr old has to be up and in good shape most Sundays !

DS is in the first year of sixth form and doesn't have a curfew.

PenisesAreNotPink · 07/09/2014 23:00

On a 'school' night before dark.

And at weekends 10-10.30, as WE want to go to bed and we have to pick her up.

ChillySundays · 08/09/2014 13:22

Home before dark if my DS is on his bike. Depends where he is going to what time to be home otherwise. Again relying on us to collect will mean that on school nights it won't be late as I need to get up in the morning and he will need to get to college
