Work Experience clothes

DD15 is on work experience next week at a graphic design/film&video editing agency in London. It's an office but more relaxed then normal ones. The letter she got from them just said smart causal for the dress code but we are struggling with what she should actually wear. Most of the time she just wears jeans with vans or trainers and t shirts. Obviously this is too casual for the work environment but she doesn't really have any other clothes :/ I don't mind buying some but it's only for a week so not loads. She really doesn't like wearing dresses or skirts or anything too girly. Anyone got any ideas for what she can wear?

Would black jeans skinny jeans with a blouse be ok? Her twin has a few nice, smarter tops she could wear with them.

I always think smart casual means no jeans.

In a design agency (I used to work in one in London and still work with a lot of agency folk) smart casual is pretty much good jeans with a nice top for women and jeans with a check shirt for men. Dark rather than light jeans or dark trousers are best. Look at the website of the agency, there will probably be pictures of staff all over it so you can get an idea of what they wear.

thanks for the tip shiver just looked at their website and the staff are wearing jeans, track jackets, checkered shirts, that sort of thing. She'll probably just wear her black jeans and a nice blouse the first day and then see what everyone else is wearing to get an idea of what to go in in the next day.

DD1 recently needed business clothes for a week at school.

We kitted her out from the local charity shops, as we don't think she'll need them again anytime soon. Got some really nice bits, e.g. a tailored black jacket from Next only cost £5.

My son was overdressed on his first day in that sort of office! Now he generally wears smart jeans and a plain T Shirt. I agree with fluffy's advice.

Is it worth getting some smartish trousers as I am presuming she will no doubt be looking for a part time job soon and could be used for interviews.
