Dd and iphone in her room

Dd insists she needs 4 alarms to wake up gradually over the course of an hour and that her iphone is the only way she can do this.
I suspect she's on her phone later than I'd like, but I have yet to find an alternative solution.

How do I tackle this without causing a battle which frankly I have zero energy for?

Buy her an alarm clock?! Ds's are allowed their iPods/phones in their bedrooms from thurs - sat nights and I think that's generous...! Just say no...

CeliaFate · 26/06/2014 20:38

Obviously I'd thought of alarm clock, but she wakes up gradually so wants one with 4 alarms.

I find gradual shouting works.

Catsmamma · 26/06/2014 20:40

turn off the wifi....problem solved :D

DottyDot · 26/06/2014 20:41

There might be one or two you could get then that have a couple of different alarm settings? And could you also wake dd up with a hot drink? I wake Ds up each morning with a drink and leave the shower on for him after I've had a shower so he's got to get up!

mrsminiverscharlady · 26/06/2014 20:42

Buy her 4 alarm clocks Grin

CeliaFate · 26/06/2014 20:43

I have turned off wifi on occasion, but dh works from remote access so needs it on at odd hours sometimes.
I'll have a look for multi alarm settings.
Gradual shouting... I do too much shouting without doing it at 7am Grin

I have managed to turn the wifi off but only in certain devices. This is not very popular in our house. Also don't think dd had realised I still have wifi on my phone and iPad. Hope she never does find out.

LoveBeingInTheSun · 26/06/2014 20:49

How old is she?

bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 20:51

DD has a radio alarm that goes off at 6.30, then DH goes in at 7, and again/I go in at 7.15, she gets up about 7.20. I can't understand why she doesn't just set it for 7.15 and get upConfused DS is similar.

It is probably just a cover for keeping the iphone in her roomWink

CeliaFate · 26/06/2014 21:05

She's nearly 14. I agree it's a cover, she can be a little minx when she wants something. But rather than get into a shouting match, I'd like to find a peaceful solution that she can't argue with (she will have a go probably!)

4 alarm clocks.

or

1 alarm clock with snooze facility, plus possibly additional one across the room set for latest get up time.

and

No screens in room from 30mins before bedtime. Including phone.

and

Earlier bedtime. If it's that hard to wake up she's not getting enough sleep.

idontlikealdi · 26/06/2014 21:06

I just set the snooze on my normal alarm clock, I like 4 attempts before it get up too!

cate16 · 26/06/2014 21:14

Tell her ok... then keep hold of the phone yourself, and just put it in her room 5mins before alarm goes off!

HenI5 · 26/06/2014 21:17

Tell her that the other option is a week of 1950s rules and after that it's an alarm clock with a snooze button.

Alternatively get an old style vintage school handbell, that'd be popular Grin

They don't half try it on don't they.

I have 10 year old girls in my school who can barely stay awake during lessons because they have been on their iPhones till gone midnight. They are often messaging boys/young men and it's quite worrying. I would say get 4 alarm clocks if you have to but get that phone out of her room at night. Oh good luck by the way as I don't envy you trying to prise her from her phone.
