My ds13 has received a joint disco birthday invite from three friends at school, two girls and a boy. It's a disco in a hall sort of thing and looking at the invite E mail about 50 children have been invited. He is friends with all three of them. What's the deal re presents, cards. The invite was signed by all three parents. He doesn't want to take presents but I said I would put money in a card but that's £30 if I do all three. What's the etiquette
With teenagers? Plus if everybody does this birthday kids potentially will pocket £500 each which seems amazing.

My dd had a party with another g and b for her 13th!
The amount of money they got was ridiculous - but most put a fiver in not a tenner, its definitely ok to do that!!!
Lots of boxes of chocs too - but no big pressies etc, just token gifts, some cheap smellies etc.
I would do a fiver in a card or chocs for that size party, its fine.

My experience is that boys don't take presents.
My girls get something small (from their pocket money) for their close circle of friends.
This is clearly more tricky as it's not really usual to have a big party like this for 13 (14?) yr olds, but my instinct would be to say presents aren't expected.
