UK Holiday or Short Break Ideas please (four Teenagers aged 13 to 18)

Racking my brains to think of somewhere to take kids this summer. Normally four days is enough as two are ASD. It is too draining on everyone to do a week away because the two who are ASD cannot cope with spontaneity, lack of routine or their "comfort" possessions.

So, what normally happens is that when the two are away on cadet camp I have 1:1 with the other two on days out etc doing things that they want to do.

OH may or may not be coming with us (it's all a bit rocky at the moment). Anyway, I just wondered if anyone has done a short break recently with teenagers to somewhere like Bath or York. Was there enough to see, do, visit for a few days? All suggestions welcome, but UK only please as three of them do not have passports. We will be travelling by train as well.

Thank you in advance...

TCP xx

I have a very similar family to you and I had a lot of success with a weekend in Birmingham! We were there for an appointment but actually had a good few days, nice museums, Midlands Arts Centre, shopping - those were into it went off and it was quite safe. We went to Brinkley place for dinner each night, the usual chAins but felt quite grown up for the teens.

I like York and Bath but my kids aren't so keen. They like Stratford though.

Have a look at Edinburgh- tons to do and see and bargains to be had on the train if you book 12 weeks in advance. Castle, dungeons, Royal Yacht, shopping, museums, restaurants, walking tours etc etc. You don't indicate their ages or interests but Edinburgh has something for everyone. Local public transport is very cheap, frequent and reliable but the main tourist sites are all within walking distance of each other anyway. Just avoid August if you are on a budget as prices go sky high for the Festival season.

We love York and there is loads to do. Edinburgh can be a good option too.

I am not sure York has enough to offer teenagers for a short break - although if Groovee wants to correct me with a long list of things her teenagers enjoyed, I am genuinely interested.

York does of course have the National Railway Museum, which doesn't personally float my boat, but would certainly be very interesting to anyone interested in trains!

London would be an obvious place for a short break with teens, but perhaps OP lives in/near London.
