Just curious after reading other posts
Do you buy or give money to your DC for clothes or do they have an allowance in which they are expected to buy with ?
Obviously I don't mean school uniforms or clothes that may be bought as part of Xmas or birthday gifts
Also where do you/they buy from numerous of dd friends seem to always shop at tophsop, jack wills Hollister VS and urban outfitters
My dd is quite the opposite shopping in sales and eBay as she says pieces are only in fashion a short time and not worth everything
But I've seen on facebook and instagram the Amounts and how regular theese girls buy clothes and shoes more than I ever have !

Jufu has never been given pocket money, but when she turned 11 her Dad decided she would have an allowance (£20 a month) paid into a bank account (for which they gave her full on debit card, internet banking, the works).
She is happy to buy stuff secondhand off Ebay, but she is very much like her Dad, in that she hates shopping if it takes too long, she would not go near a sale rack (too much effort), she hates shops like TK Maxx (it's liek a jumble sale Mum!), she prefers to walk in, choose, buy and leave.

She has not inherited my love of shopping/bargains.

I have never been a fan of labels (being a "goth" in my teenage years), but Jufu does like her designer stuff.

She is very very very tight (takes after Daddy lol..) she can go months without touching her allowance (rarely goes into town as we live in a village and she dances all day Saturday and three nights a week), but I took her to London in half term and she did not bat an eyelid at spending £55 on a Superdry hoodie.

I, on the other hand had palpitations. You can get a hoodie for £6 in Primarni!!!

DD1 is 21 and never really been interested in clothes mainly buying from from primarni and h&m, DD2 who is 16 however is very into Topshop and Urban Outfitters. Having said that though, buys most stuff online in the sale if she is getting something from either shops and isn't afraid of getting stuff from asda/tesco as she is very tight good with money. I transfer her £30 a month into her current account which she generally just lets add up (has around £200 at the minute) and buys stuff when she wants, or saves for something more expensive, i.e. another pair of dr marten boots.. Hmm

Ok not totally true, she has just complained to me that she has stupidly bought a dress off asos that she can't afford (only £22.50 in the sale, not too bad IMO) as she is saving for a ticket to leeds!

My DS (15) gets £50 a week and doesn't spend any of it.

His dad takes him shopping 2/3 times a year (usually Next and Converse) and spends a load - great for me - saves me the time and headache!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/03/2014 18:10

£50 a week? Wow!

Dd 17 is learning to buy less but better quality.
We gutted her wardrobe in half term and sent 2 binbags of Primark trpype tops etc to the charity shop.
She now has fewer clothes, but she wears them regularly..Topshop jeans as she has long legs and they last ages, Jack Wills leggings-great quality.
She gets tops from H and M and Top shop.
Same with shoes...good quality Clarks boots, Converses and vans.

She wears her own clothes to sixth form...I take her shopping every half term for basics, and she gets £50 a month .
