my lovely daughter has crashed her car ,split with long time boyfriend and got sufficient only grades on her first year for all her hard work on her uni course. She does achieve but it never seems to come easy to her and she acts like the underdog. We are always boosting self esteem but I find it so hard to see her knocked back and she always sees other people stroll it.

Aw - didn't want you to go unanswered. Sounds like she needs a big hug. Has she got good friends at University? It can make all the difference.

Thanks. Big hugs all round usually.I know she will be fine.I think as mums we hurt for our kids and sometimes they move on quicker than us.

Main thing is she has a good friendship group. My father in law always used to say, about bad or uncomfortable things happening in life that they were "character building" ! It helps me and mine to say this..makes you feel not so victimized! And big hugs from her..and you tell her from me if she has to work hard for stuff it will come good in the end cos she will know HOW to work hard..those who pass things easily will eventually get to a stage where they don't find things easy..and they won't know HOW to work hard......

Passed this on to her.It is sound advice and it helps us to put things into perspective. It helped a lot .Thanks
