Mine is desperate to find someone with parents stupid enough to go out and leave the house to them for a party.. it won't be us, but we dont want them to end up drifting round the streets, they're too young for pubs and nobody's having a party.. We have told dd she can have a few friends round, but we ( dh and me, and younger sibling) will be at home ,and it's a small house, so she's not taken us up on our offer. We don't know what they're going to end up doing. What are yours doing?

Don't know, but tbh dd2 (16) will either have friends round here, go to a friend's (whose parents would be there) or not do anything. I wouldn't give her any other option. :)

angelinterceptor · 28/12/2013 20:54

We do a small party with our friends who have similar ages DC.
Long may this last as they are 15 now

ssd · 28/12/2013 20:55

probably doing what they do every year, staying in with us and watching telly and playing xbox

Carteblanche · 28/12/2013 20:58

If they're at home with you do you have a separate room/space in the house where they can hang out? We have a tiny house, just one living room, and they're not going to sit with us and 8 year old !

They'd either take over the kitchen, or all cram into dd's (tiny) bedroom.

ssd · 28/12/2013 21:07

christ no, one living room here

MrsDavidBowie · 28/12/2013 21:09

We are going to friends for dinner.
Ds 14 is having a mate round.

Dd is babysitting and making £100.

ChristmasStrumpet · 28/12/2013 21:10

nothing. staying in with us.

SirChenjin · 28/12/2013 21:11

We are having friends round with their teens and we're all having a Murder Mystery party

Claybury · 28/12/2013 21:14

My DS (16) will undoubtedly find a party somewhere- if he survives the rave he's going to tomorrow night ...

my DD(15) will be in with me and DH and my younger DS - quiet night in! Though we've had a busy week with lots of friends over for meals we've nothing planned NYE.

Carteblanche · 28/12/2013 21:15

SirChenjin - i love murder mystery - can we come to yours :)? We dont have friends with teens so we can't get them together. TBH can't imagine our dd wanting to spend the evening with us no matter what we were doing!

OP posts:
Carteblanche · 28/12/2013 21:18

Claybury, is your ds going to a friend's house - parents in or out?

OP posts:
Claybury · 28/12/2013 21:35

Carte- I don't know but he is always out on weekend nights so I'm used to it. If parents are present at parties I wouldn't count on their responsibility, so it makes little difference. It's not something I'm happy with and I am glad my DD does not live like he does as it is a worry. We live in an urban area so he won't be far away and won't be wanting lifts.

Travelledtheworld · 29/12/2013 07:29

My SIL told me no one else would have teenagers in their homes on NYE.

So she is having five 14 year olds camping out in the living room, and six seventeen year olds in the conservatory/ kitchen. She has a modern house and it is always immaculate [hmmm]. See what it looks like on New Years Day.

mathanxiety · 29/12/2013 07:34

DD3 (15) will be babysitting and hopefully making enough to cover what she spent in the sales (a small fortune). The parents of the children have never left them before with anyone but granny and are paying her a lot more than her usual rate even though they intend to have the little ones in bed before they leave. DD loves rookie parents Xmas Smile

DD4 (12) will stay up til midnight and then go to bed after a toast.

olivevoir58 · 29/12/2013 09:11

DD 16 is going to a big NYE event at our (large) caravan park on the South Coast with a family of her teenage mates from the park. I, on the other hand, will be having a curry with some friends who have young children back home in London. It's the first time that we've done this and I'm dreading any problems occurring as we'll be 75 miles apart and unrescuable!

teenagetantrums · 29/12/2013 09:17

My DD is 17, but last year when she was 16 her and her friends went to the river to watch the fireworks and then came back here (we are in London). When she was 15 she came to a family party with me. I refuse to have all the teenagers here all night as im having a quite night in but have said she can bring a few friends home after whichever party they go to as long as they all fit in her room and dont eat everything in the fridge. Her brother is 19 i think he has been going to parties at firends houses or to the river since he was 15.

I am with SirChenjin. We started the tradition a few years ago and the teens still love the Murder Mystery, no one has resisted it yet and the older 2 are now 18.

susiedaisy · 29/12/2013 09:34

My 13 and 15 year old will be doing whatever I'm doing. Which is probably staying In!

SirChenjin · 29/12/2013 10:49

Carteblanche - yes, come to ours, you are more than welcome! Grin

We downloaded the Murder Mystery from www.playmurdermystery.com - they have games for teens, so maybe worth thinking about? Could you bribe them with Dominos, drinks and snacks? And a tenner prize money?

GraduallyGoingInsane · 29/12/2013 11:27

We are having a party with several friends with teens the same age. DD1 has also invited her 2 best friends, who will sleep over. It should be good - we are in the middle of no where so there's not an option to sneak out anywhere, and there doesn't seem to be many parties for them to go to that I would allow them at anyway!

scaevola · 29/12/2013 11:32

We're all going to be at the DGPs. I expect the teens will be having a Skype party with all their gaming mates. They've not mentioned missing a coveted RL party.

Theas18 · 29/12/2013 11:36

Umm. Mine are across the age band you name. 14yr old is coming to a prty with me and dh. 17 and 20 yr olds are going to friends and need taxi services! This is fine as we'd really rather know they were safe tbh rather than driven by friends who aren't as clear about not drinking and driving (or just plain tired inexperienced drivers at 2am!)

Actually it's DS first party elsewhere and I think dd started going out for new year at 17 too.

We have a family meal out before hand which is lovely (and the kids bring friends)

NoComet · 29/12/2013 11:39

DD1 will be here with family friends (who are avoiding non staying up relatives)
