Any teen larks (as opposed to owls)?

My DD 17 is falling asleep by 9.30pm but gets up fairly cheerfully at 7am for school. All her friends have typical teen body clocks and stay up half the night and loathe mornings.

How unusual is my DD? Is she just a late developer or might we escape this altogether?

I've got four teens, the eldest being 18, and they all go to bed at about 10 and get up cheerfully at 7ish even on the weekends. DH and I are the same, so could be nature or nurture I guess.

Mine ( 14, 15) are good at getting up at 7 for school. We don't encourage late nights in the week, the whole house is certainly quiet by 10.30- 11pm. Our wifi is off by 10pm too. Weekends are a different story....

Not in our house!

Mine (nearly 13 and 14) are in bed by 10/10.30 during the week, but struggle to get up every day. Poor DD only gets a lie-in on a Sunday as she has to be out at 8.15 on a Saturday too!

However, I know at least 2 teens who have no problems getting up early in the mornings - I think it's just their natural body clocks!

My DS14 is like yours - tired by 9pm and up at 6:30 am even at weekends.

My DS14 doesn't have a problem getting up either. He's up at 9ish at weekends and he had a recent INSET day and was up at 7am as usual.

DS10 is a different kettle of fish!

My son usually had his light out by ten and was up by 7, maybe 9am at weekends. he's just started at Uni and sets his alarm for 9.30 but says he is usually awake by 9am even after a night out and not getting in until 4!

I was a lark (I was also to some extent an owl as I didn't need a lot of sleep), my sleeping pattern only ever changes under extreme circumstances so you may well have escaped. The other option is that it will change if/when she goes to university...mine didn't though.

My normal starts are between 5.30 and 6am and have been since before I started school.
