Booze and condoms! If my little brother is anything to go by!

dexter73 · 22/11/2013 18:48

He could always take some weed Wink.

Wuldric · 22/11/2013 21:24

I have learned that the teen dream drink is Smirnov Ice. I do not know what this is but it must involve vodka and water or something. At any rate it is cheaper than a bottle of wine so it figures to be less alcoholic than that. Six teens slurping a bottle, maybe two of Smirnov Ice.

It's not exactly rebellion, is it? I asked DD if she needed any (erm) things. She went beetroot red and said she didn't. Should I buy her some condoms anyway? Or not?

RiverSongsCervix · 22/11/2013 21:28

Whatever he'll drink.
DD is 15 and doesn't like booze ad talen a 2 litre bottle of cherryade.

Travelledtheworld · 22/11/2013 23:18

In some states in the USA you could be sent to jail for buying alcohol for under 21's, or hosting a party in your home where alcohol is served to underage teens.

lia66 · 22/11/2013 23:24

4 bottles of coors for ds last week. He's 16.

We've all been there, just have the safe drinking chat, safe sex chat, make sure they've eaten something do I'd send crisps etc too. X

MoominsYonisAreScary · 22/11/2013 23:30

Even these days they can manage to buy alcohol from some where, if not then what ever he does drink also snacks

MoominsYonisAreScary · 22/11/2013 23:33

Smirnoff ice is an alcopop vodka, lime soda fruit juice and suger I think. Not very high in alcohol

Monty27 · 22/11/2013 23:35

If ds says nothing, then I'd give him soft drinks and coke (yeh I know) or whatever soft drinks he likes. Don't encourage alcohol if its not even on his radar. He may be home early :)

Monty27 · 22/11/2013 23:37

I meant crisps and soft drinks NOT COKE! (I was thinking cans of coke although I don't really approve of that either) lol pmsl oh the irony Shock

MoominsYonisAreScary · 22/11/2013 23:38

Wuldric, how old is she? Teens can get a c card (I think its called) which they take yo certain places and get free condoms. I haven't asked where but my sons had one for years so I assume they talk to them about it at school

MoominsYonisAreScary · 22/11/2013 23:39

And here comes monty, handing out the coke Grin

usualsuspect · 22/11/2013 23:40

It's not illegal for under 18s to drink at home

BackforGood · 23/11/2013 00:01

I think the big range of ages is blurring things a bit.
My ds didn't start going to house parties where there might have been alcohol until the 6th form, so 16/17.
I have a 15 yr old and she doesn't go to parties involving alcohol. Moving into 6th form makes a BIG difference IME.

AllDirections · 23/11/2013 00:14

DD1 is 17 and she'd take crisps and soft drinks. If she did want to take alcohol I've been saving the bottles of low alcohol wine that I bought by mistake Grin but she's not bothered about alcohol yet

out2lunch · 23/11/2013 00:22

let him decide

he can take whatever he feels comfortable with even if its nothing

Cerisier · 23/11/2013 03:13

DD18 might take cider, which is her tipple of choice. Or she might take a cake she has made or crisps and nibbles. The boys usually take along beer, pizza and crisps. Sometimes a bottle of vodka will appear as one of her girl friends likes it, but most of them aren't big drinkers.

Nerfmother · 23/11/2013 08:05

Friends dd is 14 and they have negotiated one alcopop and then lager.
I almost fell off my chair.

Kazzyv · 23/11/2013 08:59

Legally I think it is illegal to buy alcohol for an under 18 - but not illegal to give a 16 year old drink. Drinking at this age at home is not illegal. I think it's inky illegal to give a child under 5 alcohol !
Re original question - take what they want to drink ( otherwise there may not be anything!)

AngryBuddha · 23/11/2013 09:34

My 16 DS takes bottle of coke. He doesn't like alcohol.

He discovered the coke comes in handy with girls who only bring Spirits!!!

thecatlikesmebest · 23/11/2013 14:18

Mine would take one bottle of fruit cider. If no alcohol then a bottle of cola is fine.

EXTERMINATEpeppa · 23/11/2013 14:19

EXTERMINATEpeppa · 23/11/2013 14:22

noddyholder · 23/11/2013 14:22

Beers and cigarette papers

Oodmaiden · 23/11/2013 14:29

ExcuseTypos "I didn't ever buy alcohol for them ot take to parties. It's illegal for a start and I didn't want to add to all the bottles that would be there anyway."

Actually it's not. It is illegal for an under 18 to buy alcohol, but children over the age of 5 may legally drink alcohol in a private place, and 16 or 17 year olds can drink in a bar or restaurant, as long as an over 18 buys it and they are eating a meal.
