leave on own in morning

got an new job offer but would mean leaving 15 year old on own in morning from 8 to get ready and go to school would this be ok

Hey Pumpkins ! I leave my 10 yr old DS in the mornings from about 7.40. He will of had breakfast & I make sure he is dressed before I leave. His mate comes to call on him at 8.10 for school so he has about 30 mins alone & an alarm on his phone to make sure he is out the house for a certain time.

Is there any reason why you are hesitant about leaving him?

depends on 15yo, doesn't it?

Real problem for mine is waking up & getting organised. DD could do it at 10 & DS still needs chivvying at 14.

no none at all just feel a bit guilty cause my mom was always there

I've been leaving my DS who has ASD on his own some mornings from 6.00 am from the age of 15. He has to get the train to school leaving the house at 7.30. He's never been late. A 15 year old should be perfectly capable.

theyll be up before i go and good at going on the dot at 830

i used to leave my 11 and 13 year old, i left 45 mins before them, as long as they are up i don't see a problem.

My 13 year old gets herself off to school on mornings I work. She has been doing this since she started high school.

Should be fine. Lots of us do it to younger teens than that. My 13yo is possibly the least organised teen I have ever met, but as long as I make sure he is awake and knows he has to take charge, he is fine.

It sounds like he will be fine. And it is good practice for being an adult and not relying on you to help him out

Yes, they should be fine. Are they ok with it?
Just have a run through of what is expected, and importance of securing the house etc.
