DD is going swimming this weekend so she needs to wear a tampon.
I know nothing about them as I was always to scared to try them Blush. Can anyone recommend any?

(Not a teen!) I always use non applicator tampons, lilets usually.
I'm 40 and still can't get on with tampax, feel like I need an extra hand!

I used Lilets since I was 13.
Avoid those nasty scented things and those with plastic applicators.
There are plenty of organic, non bleached cotton tampons on the market these days if you are worried about chemicals. Natracare and Cottons are two good brands. Try bigger branches of Boots , Waitrose and Wholefood shops.
Good luck.

I'd also second something like Lillets, shops own non applicator or Boots cottons as I find plastic and cardboard applicators really uncomfortable. For some they do take a while to get used to, so if she wants to try them get her to start practising as soon as she comes on. If it's only for swimming something like a regular one will be fine for a couple of hours and won't be quite so big.

I have never been able to get on with non-applicator tampons and have always used the old-fashioned tampax. When DD wanted to try tampons I suggested tampax as I could explain how to use them as they work for me. I bought her a pack of slim ones - I think they are called 'lites'. Your DD will have more success as a beginner OP if she has the first few attempts when her period is at its heaviest.

Remember that just because she's a teenager, she may not have a very light flow- so a "lite" one may not be up to the job. My dd uses Tampax Pearl- I bough her a selection and she experimented til she found the one she liked best.

each to their own, I always preferred the ones with cardboard applicators, plastic hurts and could never get on with the non-applicator ones!

remind her to bin, not flush - certainly the applicator and ideally the tampon too. Change every four hours max, wash hands before and after and aim for small of back. If she can feel it once inserted, it is in the wrong place.
