Hi, no experience of this at all so sorry can't help but didn't want you to feel ignored. Do you not get given a checklist or anything of things you should take - or is that part of the award, organising yourslef without help? Smile

I did this when I was at school. Make sure you have some proper walking boots, a calgoule (sp?), and some clothes that will dry easily in case they get wet maybe a pair of water proof trousers to wear over your normal pants. Are you camping? If so you'll need a camping stove etc. Food wise things like noddles, pasta, choclate or kenal mint cake for energy. tea bags/flask if you want a cuppa. We also sneaked bottles of wine in our rucksacks for the nights we camped thoughb I wouldn't recommend this. Grin

I found this checklist for you it says gold award but assume it's pretty similar.

You can download a kit checklist \link{http://www.theaward.org/participants/index.php?ids=48,122,1581&id=1469\here} but I'm a bit concerned you haven't had any advice. Is your Authority providing a tent to share with other participants? You'll have to arrange who carries which part of it.

Thanks all :)
Part of the award is organising ourselves but i'm hoping we will be given some advice about what we need. Loving your idea ledodgy Grin
ellceeell they are providing a tent for us but we have to sort it out between ourselves whos carrying it i think :)
Thanks :)

DS1 took something frozen from home for his first night, Dani - chilli I think. Can't remember what else he took, I'm at work atm, will ask him for you when I get home, but he decided what to get and bought it himself. I think the group took sausages, bacon etc for a fry-up the first morning.

My DD did her expedition last week.

For food they took that DOlmio ready cooked pasta + stir in sauces, and Amoy Straight to Wok noodles, packet of stir fry veg & Stir in Sweet & sauces. Apparantly both great. For breakfast DD liked That instant ready brek stuff (Oats so simple) - just add boiling water. Easy & filling.

She had a very good backpack, a tiny lightweight but warm sleeping bag, A Coleman Epsilon2 tent, First Aid kit, compass etc, spare clothes & food. Main thing was the AquaPack which held 2 litres of water - had to be refilled in the day as was REALLY hot last weekend - but better than the practice weekend where they got drowned in the rain!

Good luck

You should have a chat with the others you'll be camping with - so that you don't duplicate stuff like the first aid kit, bottle opener (you know you'll need one!)and camping stove.

Don't get lost (like my ds1 did on his practise trek) and good luck!
