What time do your teens stay up till in the school holidays?

Dd's 14, she's on school holidays, but me and dh have got to get up for work in the mornings. so we make (encourage!) her go to bed before midnight..just because she'd keep us awake otherwise (live in flat, can pretty much hear everything everyone's doing). but part of me thinks that's not fair, shes only young once and why should she go to bed early when she's on holidays! What do yours do?

My DS is 15 he goes when he likes, but he's quite active in the hols so he's usually in bed by 12.30.

dexter73 · 12/08/2013 21:17

My dd is usually in bed by 10.30 if she has work the next day but it can be 2-3 am if she doesn't have to get up.

DS (14) no bedtime. He has to wear headphones for music/laptop and keep the TV low.

But, he sleeps for England all day.

ihatethecold · 12/08/2013 21:37

My ds13 has his tv off by 10.30

He goes to sleep then.

flow4 · 12/08/2013 22:22

I usually try to chase my DS2 (13) to bed about 10:30-11, because I'm up for work in the morning. But at weekends, and when he's at his dad's (who doesn't work) he has no bedtime.

DS1 is 18 so has no bedtime, but I do request quiet once I'm in bed, and we have had plenty of conflict over the years when he's woken me up.

Niklepic · 12/08/2013 22:23

DD1 is nearly 16. She's no set bedtime but has to keep the noise down.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/08/2013 22:27

Dd (13) about 10 pm, but not tonight as we are waiting up for the perseid meteor shower.

HmmmIwonder · 12/08/2013 23:08

..the perseid meteor shower...I'll have to Google that one..! I guess having no bedtime is good as it gives independence, but don't they keep you awake? Or does everyone have a bigger house/ or are heavier sleepers than we are Confused

DD14 goes to sleep about 11pm in the summer - I'm fairly relaxed but don't let her surf on any gadgets/computers in her room - she has to be downstairs ... and we get up early so she has to be quiet!!!

Greenkit · 13/08/2013 05:04

DD17 and DS15, no real set bedtime, but they tend to go to bed about midnight. However I wont let them stay in bed after 9am Wink

mathanxiety · 13/08/2013 06:15

All the teens here have jobs that get them up and at 'em at the same time as school. 15 and 18 yos have been doing babysitting/mother's helping and working in a law office respectively. 20 year old has been working irregular hours this summer - he gets in late sometimes but stays quiet, eats all the leftovers from the fridge, creeps off to bed. The bathroom kicks into gear at 6.30 am. It's great. The only one who stays up late is the 11 yo, reading under the covers until silly o'clock.

katydid02 · 13/08/2013 07:31

We don't have a set bed time in the summer holidays but my two are both usually in bed by 9pm/10pm. The TV or music has to be quiet if the younger one is in bed and off when I go to bed.
They tend not to get a lie in because they have responsibilities that they have to do; if the guinea pigs aren't fed on time then they start squeaking loudly and that wakes them up Grin

dexter73 · 13/08/2013 09:03

Dd doesn't keep me awake. She is in the bedroom next to ours and watches her tv but doesn't have it up loud. If she is listening to music she puts her earphones on. She only wakes me up if she comes in after we have gone to bed, but I usually go straight back to sleep.

OverTheFieldsAndFarAway · 13/08/2013 09:08

I have no idea what time they go to sleep but am thinking its a long time after me.

Blush12 · 13/08/2013 09:11

DS 19 is in bed for 11 as he gets up for work at 6. DS15 no bed time as he will either be reading, writing his story. Listens to music with headphones.

secretscwirrels · 13/08/2013 09:46

No bedtimes.
17 year old - I have no idea, many hours after me.
15 year old I have asked him to try and get to bed before midnight on week days as it was creeping round the clock.

cory · 13/08/2013 10:07

No fixed bedtime unless we are doing something the next day. Ds (13) is staying with his grandparents but I know they go to bed when they get tired and he stays up -quietly, one hopes. The 16yo will be starting a course next week, 11 hours a day of very energetic physical training, so I don't expect to see her up in the small hours for much longer.

admylin · 13/08/2013 10:46

It has been quite a relief to read that my teenagers are normal with their late bedtimes and sleeping all day routine in the summer holidays.

They've just gone back to school this week so are having to adjust to getting up at 6am again and forcing themselves to go to bed at 11pm at the latest on a school night.

bigTillyMint · 13/08/2013 15:21

Glad to see my teens are not the only ones going to bed late and sleeping in till late! We are away on hol atm with friends and they are staying up till later than us, but still making it down for breakfast by about 10. At home they just got up about 12 for lunch!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/08/2013 15:49

About the same time as us, so 12ish. They are usually awake by 9 to 9.30ish.

mathanxiety · 13/08/2013 19:59

On summer weekends they practice for their Olympic sleeping event. They don't have a set bedtime for the rest of the year. They are responsible for getting themselves up and off to school so they adjust their bedtime accordingly.
