After going out with boyfriend for 2 years, and being good mates not just gf and bf,it all finished at end of June. She seemed okish after the intial upset but twice have caught her in early hours on phone/internet. Last night she broke down and said he would talk to her at that time, but not in day, and that she wanted to go back out with him cos he was her best mate ( and one of her only mates sadly...I did talk to her about putting eggs in one basket, but to be honest didn't and never has had any very close female friends through senior school, finds it difficult to deal with bitchiness and females)
Any suggestions...?) Am going to try and keep her busy, may look at scouts etc

New haircut and a run around the shops?
Swimming every day? Sort of a challenge if you want.
Tell her about your first relationship break up?
Books?

I was devastated at 16, I was in love with a 'misunderstood genius' and I had nothing to trow all my grief at, mum didn't think it was worth bothering. But the pain was excruciating. So, keeping her mind occupied might be the answer.

Am trying, but she 's not very co-operative or enthusiastic!! Needs a rocket up her to motivate her into moving or doing anything lately! She was talking about dropping some cvs round shops, but at present is still sat downstairs mouldering. Doesn't really like me organising her too much..gets prickly about it.

OMG..teenagers are soooo difficult and heart breaking!

...did talk about my first relationship break up but I am the sort of person who will think "Stuff you then" and get out and make myself manically busy seeing, doing, exercise...and she doesn't seem motivated to do that :-(

My ds2 is like this. Unfortunately he's had three big break ups (now in his twenties) but really falls hard.

Last time he came home for a few weeks and had leave from work (planned before the split) he managed to shut himself away and watch five seasons of the wire ffs!
He refuses to do anything that may help.
It's just time that she needs and your support although I do remember telling ds to shut up about it all in Xmas day! I'd just had enough of it.

Yes, am trying to push the job front but very difficult cos in a way if I suggest it or push she resists (is like this about everything including tidying room etc!) Would love her to get a job..she lost out on one recently to the ex boyfriend :-( difficult partic as she stupidly told him about it in the first place...doh!
Who'd be 16 again?!
