'Geek' 'Looser' 'Jock' t shirts... why?!

DD is 15 and just returned home with a t-shirt which says 'GEEK' on it in big letters.
She is into fashion, at a very academic girls school which she loves and does very well at. She is usually just a very normal teen...
But this T-shirt.. WHY?! Her two friends were wearing ones saying 'JOCK' and 'DUDE'. I also saw one in top shop saying 'LOOSER'. Apparently it is so 'in fashion' that Primark do a replica.
She is off to a party tonight, having had my eldest DDs who are now uni age or above and memories of their party outfits being short dresses or fancy dress.. I asked if it was fancy dress then and got the biggest scowl followed by a stubborn 'NO.'
I guess I just have to trust that by the time she is off to uni she will have acquired good taste like older DDs did!!

Anyway, it's her choice and if that is what makes her happy...
Anyone else struggling to understand this fashion?!

Yes, I do remember that heysoulsister but they were more relax, chill, peace... bit different to looser and geek!

O gosh the moustache fashion... that was a similar why o why moment!

Must admit I quite fancy a 'geek' one myself. Sick of seeing moustaches now: they are (as dp would put it) like shit in a field.

I have just ordered a geek and nerd t-shirt for myself. Think it's safe to say that the trend is well and truly over!

it is being hipster according to my 15yr old dd (not a clue what hipster means tbh ) it is just clothes dd is fuming cos she says she is a geek and hates that geek is 'in'

op what do you want her to wear do you think she isn't feminine enough or 'something' really they are just T shirts it doesn't make her any less of a girl because she is wearing a t shirt with dude on it

it's her choice and if that is what makes her happy.

I am light-heatedly expressing my amusement at the fashion. I don't care at all how feminine she dresses or anything else, it is her choice!! My post may have come across wrong, I have a good relationship with DD (had two older DDs to get it wrong with ;) ) and she knows my comments are jokes and I know very well when she is in the mood for me to comment and when to keep quiet!

I don't have any way I want her to dress as long as she is happy, I simply find the fashion funny and a bit ridiculous! I understand it is just fashion though.

It is one of those fashions I'm sure the DC will look back on and think whyyyy was that cool!? I saw 'DWEEB' and 'CHAV' labelled t-shirts being exhibited around town yesterday.

My DD has one of those baggy geek/nerd t;shirts - they like it cos its supposed to be ironic.

My DD has lots of these type of t-shirts she loves them and also liked the moustache one's.Not a problem in my eyes just young fashion,I do draw the line at the one's that say "SICK".I find it strange that they also do these t-shirts for adults not my cup of tea but there again I'm not a, young,trendy dresser.

DTD1 has DORK and NERD on her tops, DTD2 doesn't thankfully but that's because she spent her money on ither bit and bobs otherwise she would get them. [sigh]

I have a Mickey Mouse mouse one wearing glasses and saying Geek. My god-daughter was not impressed but my own DD just shrugged it off and accepts that her mother is entering into her mid-life crisis. It's all just fun and disposable fashion.

I was all excited recently when I saw a t-shirt with "RAVEL" (you know, the composer?) on it beside a "GEEK" t-shirt. I was reaching out to buy it for DD who plays classical music when I realised it was actually, "RAVER".
