Girls schools and eating disorders

My 4 dd's attend different girls schools and the number of friends they have with eating disorders is shocking. My dd's are constantly under pressure from friends not to eat a balanced diet and are told every day (without fail) that if they do they will get fat. My dd's have a healthy relationship with food and exercise regularly, and we are truly thankful for that, but the constant pressure is making them and me very anxious. Any suggestions would be welcome.

That's sad. :(
I think the best thing you can do is keep the lines of communication open. Knowing they can always talk about what is bothering them. It's problems that fester that they feel overwhelmed by that tends to trigger these things.

...and educate, educate.

fashion models are not role models
too skinny is as bad as too fat
most celeb pictures are faked
peer pressure is for fools
fad diets are for the stupid and gullible, and only exist to make money
ignorance of science (i.e. how the body works) is shameful, not something to be proud of

all the lessons that are important.

they are lucky to have intelligent parents, and must be protected from those who don't.

perhaps some help from the school to try to reduce this nonsense?
