won't bore you with the details that have made me p*ssed off tonight but out of interest just wondered what age do mumsnetters think is acceptable to leave teenagers overnight alone. TIA

I left my eldest for one night at 16. The two youngest went to my mum.

Went on holiday without him when he was 17 with my parents checking up on him but not staying overnight.

We went on holiday leaving DD1 at home when she was 18. A lot of people slept here I think (it was A level result week so they got pissed a lot) but nothing too bad - what do you think the nephews are up to, bh? How old are they?

JanH · 05/05/2006 22:50

15 and 12???? ShockShockShock

15 too young, 12 way too young, defo drive past!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/05/2006 22:53

Are they going to be alone all night?

I'd drive past definitely,

blondehelen · 05/05/2006 22:53

15 and 12. 15yr old is quite responsible but the 12yr old is a bit of a handful. I would have been happier to have the 12 yr old with me but refused to come and so i have been ringing regularly throughout the evening. spoke to my sil who was happy for him to stay with his brother. just got that sinking feeling about it

thanks. my lo's are 7 and 4 so not much experience of this. i have the 9yr old with me. so p*ssed off with sil who went out and just text me and asked me to pick up her kids and look after them

Too young
When I was a responsible A student 15 yr old and db was an A student swot 14 yr old we held an party and someone got stabbed!
Quiet suburb total shock.
My experience colours me...
Never alone in my house, but I would welcome a party while I was around.

ItalianJob · 05/05/2006 22:56

15 and 12 sounds a bit on the young side tbh.

Tortington · 05/05/2006 22:58

errrrrrrrr never. they will have a party

Tortington · 05/05/2006 22:59

oh we have ds (16) babysit twins (13) whilst we go get shitfaced.

blondehelen · 05/05/2006 22:59

just spoken to my niece who is 17 who is on her way to the house. (she doesn't live there she lives with my MIL-whole new thread Grin) She is going to ring me when she gets there to find out what is going on

15 + 12 combo I imagine is asking for trouble. 12 id definitely too young imo. Dont think I would be happy leaving them until they were at least 16 (although possibly nearer 30 if the truth be told)

joash · 05/05/2006 23:49

about 45 years old Grin

maltesers · 12/05/2006 22:32

18 maybe or 17. My older ds is 18 and would happily leave him now. My dd is 15 and she would prob be ok with him but dont like to leave her yet. Would go for too long with son as a party would soon be on the cards !
