13 yr old boy no signs of puberty

Hi. I'm just wondering when you knew your sons had started puberty. My son is quite tall for his age but I've not noticed any puberty signs such as hair on his face, legs or under his arms, voice breaking or him becoming more muscly and broader. I'm not sure if these are the things I would see but just hoping that puberty is not delayed. A few of his friends are 6 ft tall with deep voices!

I don't have a teenage boy but I do teach a lot of them.

The majority of the boys I teach seem to start with puberty around year 9 or 10, so between 13 and 15. At the start of year 9 most of them still look and sound like little boys, but by the end of year 10 they look and sound like young men. Some are very tall, while still looking like little boys, others are very short even once they look like young men.

I wouldn't worry about your ds. He'll come to it in his own time.

My DS was almost 14- year nine - and between then and now ( just over 15) he has grown more than 6 inches in height, voice gone all deep and facial hair etc. My lovely little boy all gone! But he is a lovely young man now instead who has just asked me what time I want my MOther Day breakfast and who went to Tesco and bought me croissants, posh jam and Tropicana ( because "Its expensive and you normally get own brand!")

It will happen all too quickly. His best mate hit puberty at 12 and was about a foot taller than his mates for ages- another friend is 15 and still hasn't started growing- they are all different!

I have a 13 yo DS too... He's tall for his age as well (about 5'6") and his feet are now bigger than mine, but he's not showing any of the signs you describe either... Tho he is getting a little bit spotty! Don't worry. :)

Completely within the boundaries of being normal. 12-15 seems to be usual.

It often happens incredibly suddenly. I spent days wondering why my DS was going around on tiptoe and the voice-breaking seemed quite a quick process too - a little bit of yodelling but not much.

Definitely nothing to worry about with your DS.

Normal.
DS1 was very early and was 6' with a deep voice at 11.
When DS2 reached 14 with no sign of puberty I was a little concerned but he is now 15, and as tall and deep voiced as his brother. Not shaving yet though Wink.
I agree about the year 9/10 thing. I have observed all their friends and very few finish year 10 still little boys.
