just 16-hr old daughter male just 'friend' (15) stayed over. heard her go into his room early morning and went to check was in his bed both just lying quietly. he lost a parent recently, she has a medical condition which causes her worries she can't talk to many friends about. might they just be seeking comfort from each other or should I listen to my instincts?! would rather they were here if getting close than elsewhere; don't want to stop them giving each other comfort but also need to provide boundaries if this relationship is to continue or develop - any advice?

They might. And they might not. Can you just ask her, stan?

I lived with my dad at this age, and when I got my first boyfriend, my dad just asked me straight... My dad and I had a good relationship, and he was the first person I told (poor dad!) when my boyfriend and I did have sex... Grin We were both over the age of consent though, and since your DD's boy friend isn't, I think you need to check, and remind them to remember the law if their friendship/relationship does develop.

You're right not to assume though... At this age, I had other male friends who also sometimes stayed over, without there ever being any question of sex.

It's impossible to say indeed - boys and girls of that age often are emotionally and very physically close, hugging, comparing height/shoe-size/spots - piggy-backing, etc but the only way to know for sure is to ask....

Posted too soon. Sorry. Be very nice about it though - if they are just friends she might be very offended and if they're not, she'll value her privacy. I'd go down the route of underage sex being illegal too.

Hope your DD's health improves. Poor boy - how awful to lose a parent.
