What do I do about teenager damaging my stuff deliberately

Dd is angry as I've caught her out on 4 lies in the last week and I challenged her tonight - telling her that she needed to be truthful or she wouldn't be allowed out.

She then went and put a massive dent in my solid wood table as she was angry.

I'm at a bit of a loss - dh is talking to her and I can hear her denying that she did it at all

consequences. While it is tempting to smash something of hers, that is sinking to her level. Confiscate everything that matters and keep it until the behaviour improves. Warn her that if behaviour worsens stuff will be sold and not replaced.

It would help to know what the lies were about, how old DD is and a bit of background. For example is DD having problems at school or with friendships at the moment?

I am not condoning the damage at all and I would be extremely cross if this happened to my table. However the sanctions I would apply to one of my teens doing this would depend on the history/circumstances.
