Can we have a complaining about teenages thread?

Just seen nbg's thread and read some other examples of teenagers being intimidating so perhaps some of you will be up for getting some gripes off your chest too.

This is mine: I live on a main road and the teenagers round here seem to have developed a new way of crossing the road. Firstly they completely ignore the crossing island about ten feet away - well, OK so would I have done when I was a teenager.

Then they cross the road, but do not wait for a clear road. They sort of walk half way across the first carriageway, stop, block the traffic - literally cars and lorries and buses all have to come to a complete stand still - while they wait for the other carriageway to be empty. Often someone in the other direction then has to slow down just to let them cross as they can see the stopped traffic on the other side.

If they really can't use the traffic island, couldn't they at least walk into the middle of the road and allow traffic to pass on either side of them? Why do they have to stop in the middle of the carriageway and why do drivers not hoot them out the way?

Why does it infuriate me so much? Well partly because I am a cantankerous old woman but principally at the moment because I want my nine year old ds to gain some independence soon and want him to be able to cross the road safely. He won't if he sees what his elders are doing.

I could add some more complaints too, but I don't want to appear too cantankerous all at once! Grin Anyone else want to off load?

That's the process of natural selection DG. The thick ones get killed by cars, hence improving the human race by removing their thick genes from the poolGrin

My 17 yr old dss is incapable of doing anything without being asked 5 times!! Otherwise he is quite nice though.

Carmenere lol at first paragraph! Grin

Carmenere that comment was a bit uncalled for
some kids are killed because it is the drivers fault.

starlover · 03/04/2006 14:55

lol carmenere!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 03/04/2006 14:55

I think Carmene's comment was in relation to the description of crossing roads which DG gave.....

DumbledoresGirl · 03/04/2006 14:57

Believe you me DSW, not the ones I see crossing the road every day outside my house, within a stone's throw of a traffic island and right next to a staggered junction.

£ of them could have had the life of one of my children on their hands last Friday too when they decided to ride a motorbike down a pedestrian streamside path. Yes, three on one bike and only the driver wearing a helmet.

I honestly don't know why society puts up with it.

Not a pound sign! Meant to be a 3.

Was referring to DG's discription DSW, no offence intended.

desperateSCOUSEwife · 03/04/2006 15:01

I know there was no offence intended
just a bit raw to me as i seen a kid knocked down
and it was horrible
I held him as the ambulance was on its way

desperateSCOUSEwife · 03/04/2006 15:22

ps sorry if I seemed a bit short
it wasnt meant

Carmenere · 03/04/2006 15:32

Oh God don't worry - tbh your experience sounded horrific and I was being flippant, anyway we seemed to have killed this threadGrin

desperateSCOUSEwife · 03/04/2006 15:34
