Do you do 18th, 21st birthday gifts or both? We have done 18th birthday presents (well...money...£20 mark) for my friends' children. Some of them are now approaching the 21year mark. We..my friends and I, mutally all agreed years ago, no presents really were to be bought by us for each others children after they were 18years old but I feel 21st is an exception, and so it proved when it was my EDs 21st a couple of years ago. How much do you think I should spend..well it will probabley be money/cheque in a card? I really can't remember what ED got, and neither can she. We are not super rich and I have about 6 21sts this year..including my own daughter's in spring.....eek! (not counting the joyous expense, on-going, of trying to help out with university expenses!)

Yes I do both but £10 to friends kids and £50 to family kids always saying wish it could be more. It all adds up so if they get other cash they are happy.
I would say just give what you can never go short, especially with 6 in one year!

We did expensive (ish) at 16.. laptops. So 18 was £100 for them to go have fun on a night out or whatever.

However DD1 will be 21 in January and she is a mad Harry Potter fan so I think we will be going ont he HP tour....

I would be sending a £10 to non related children and something nice for family ones!
