Can't believe my 19 year old daughter has returned from Magalluf with a tattoo on her tummy! She cannot understand why we are upset with her! I know it's to late to do anything about it but still amazed she has done it!

She's 19 tho. Better than her being 16. I'm 22 and have 5 of them. There not for everyone but there's nothing you can do unfortunately.

I know, and I know it could be much worse. Just thought she would have checked out a local parlour ( or whatever they're called) not go to someone on holiday when carried away with sunshine sangria etc.

Well she is 19 , so not much you can do really.

Rachel130690 · 03/07/2012 16:34

Yea I get what you mean, but sometimes you can get carried away. But I'm sure your daughter went to a place that is up to scratch. (id imagine they would be checked all the time)

But just remember it could be worse my second tattoo is horrible drunken mistake that happened in some guys kitchen. Have since had it redone twice but still not happy with it. :( I just hope your daughters is a nice one and she's looking after in properly. X

My 19 year old daughter has just had the lyrics of a song tattooed on her chest knowing this would upset me, one question why?

Rachel130690 · 06/07/2012 10:08

She didn't do it to upset you, it's what she wanted. Tattoos are a way for people to express themselves and it's what your daughter wanted. You don't have to be happy about it or like it but it's your daughters choice.

cory · 06/07/2012 10:33

It is her choice, but I would still be upset at the stupidity of having it done abroad with no means of checking up on standards: I would be upset at any member of my family displaying such a complete lack of brains.

Friend of dh contracted hepatitis from having her ears pierced in India, nearly died and spent years in very poor health.

Of course you can be angry about someone you love making a foolish decision.

My eldest is 16 and she knows exactly what I'd say if she ever came home with a tattoo!! But after a certain point they are adults and you have to hope they have enough common sense to make the right choices.

crkm · 09/07/2012 22:19

my Dd - also 19 - had a tattoo on her back - her boyfriends mother took her because she (dd) knew I wouldnt be happy about it. Tattoo was a tribute to her friend who committed suicide a few months previously - couldnt really say anything as she is an adult and its her choice - but do worry it was an emotional spur of the moment thing :(

SecretSquirrels · 10/07/2012 14:30

Oh no. I realise there are worse things she could have brought back from Magaluf but that's hideous. Was she drunk or is that a silly question?
At least it won't show when she is dressed.

ripsishere · 10/07/2012 22:27

But it isn't a life threatening/long illness is it?
Easy for me to say with an 11YO scared of needles DD.
IMO, as long as it isn't saying something like X is a total cunt, you need to calm down.

BeattieBow · 10/07/2012 22:29

my 19 yo au pair has had her brothers name tattooed on the side of her foot. I mean why?!

I hope my dds won't have tattoos but I suppose each to their own.
