ID that works for a 16yr old who looks much older

DS needs ID that will be accepted. He carries a copy of his passport but even that gets rejected FFS. He had to pay full price and my 18yr old student DD got a reduction.

He's going into 6th form in sept so something that would get him student reductions would be great.

Thanks

Get an NUS (National Union of Students) Card.

Gets loads of discounts, you have to pay a one off fee but it does help get some bargains.

Why would his passport be rejected it's the one form of ID that is used in most official forms? Whoever is disputing it is ill-informed at best.

NUS card info

I think it's the copy of his passport that gets rejected...

It's a funny age, this. I'm pretty sure some of my son's mates have dual ID: one set to 'prove' they're under 18 and entitled to half-fare, and another set to 'prove' they're over 18 and should be served alcohol/tobacco! Hmm No wonder staff and businesses are suspicious!

flow is right its the copy that gets rejected (mostly by cinema jobsworths) and i wouldn't trust him wih the real thing!

Government ID card is the best thing, because NUS or other student ID cards aren't accepted everywhere (we aren't allowed to accept them at work for age rated products).

Photocopies aren't accepted anywhere because it's incredibly easy to mock up a "photocopy" on photoshop if you have a scanner and printer. I know because I tried this one and it really did look real Blush It's not jobsworths who reject them, but anyone with common sense.

You could phone the cinema and ask what they accept as age verification, because if they will take a school/college ID or an NUS card then it's definitely worth getting one, if not then the government IDs are supposed to be accepted everywhere as they are an official form of ID, and it's a lot cheaper to replace than a passport if it goes missing.

Of course as soon as he's 17 he can apply for a provisional driving licence which is what most young people use.

We got our older teens the Govt ID card but to use as an "over-18" ID (carrying a passport is risky and none of ours can afford to drive) but infuriatingly there are lots of places that still don't accept it, including pubs. It's not an easy thing to get but it's irritating that it isn't accepted always. I guess an NUS card is the next best thing.

It should be accepted everywhere, though, it's legally recognised.

For the pubs there was a "yes I can have booze" card that was advertised in the off licence for years wit forms and everything
