How much did you spend or what sort of thing did you get for your 18 yr old.I have heard some huge tales of extravagance from ds and have just shut my ears tbh Grin

DD didn't want a party and wouldn't give us any clues about presents. We got her a (about £100) gold necklace with a little amethyst which she loved and had a family meal at an Italian restaurant.

That sounds like us! We have got him a ring he will love and are going out for family meal with 6 of his mates too andthen they are going out afterwards.

I think it's nice to get something they can keep (hopefully!). Hope you all have a lovely evening.

I think it's nice to get something they can keep (I had a watch for example, but I know fewer youngsters wear them nowadays), but it doesn't have to be a ridiculous amount.

My mum had old ugly family gold remade into a pendent for me. Didn't cost much other than the jewellers time and I love it.

With DS1 we paid for driving lessons up to and including his test. Luckily he passed first time Smile

He had a party at home whilst DH & I stayed overnight at his mums. No damage that couldn't be cleaned up but not sure my nerves could stand it again.

I designed a bangle for her and had it made in a jewellers. It made me very happy and she likes it :-)

DD1 was 18 last week.

We had a meal for family on Easter Saturday (her choice) and bought her a new laptop - again her choice and needed for next year for uni. The one thing she didn't know about was a photo book with baby pictures/school photos/quirky photos - nothing so embarrassing that she couldn't show it to her friends. Smile

Not outrageously extravagant but she was really delighted and we all had a great time catching up with the relatives over a few glasses of wine.
