School night about 9pm. In the holidays whenever he wants but he tends to be in bed for 10pm.

flow4 · 09/04/2012 22:55

Mine is still up. :) 9pm on school nights; and until he starts to seem tired or make a nuisance of himself in the hols.

EggyFucker · 09/04/2012 22:57

he will go at 11

on a school night, he goes at 10pm

he doesn't need much kip, and will still be messing about with something or other until about midnight

My twelve yr old used to go to bed at 8.30 and would sleep through til 7. Even at 14 yrs old he needs 10 hours sleep.

Holidays its 9:30/10

diabolo · 11/04/2012 14:14

My DS loves his sleep so 8.30pm on a school night (he has to get up at 06.30) and usually between 9.30pm and 10pm at weekends depending on what's on TV.

HatchedAtTheHutch · 11/04/2012 14:16

I'm with Sparkling, in bed and lights out by 9 on a school night and generally 10 in the hols

frenchfancy · 11/04/2012 19:20

Same as Hatched.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 11/04/2012 19:33

Same as hatched too.

whenever he wants. I cannot be bothered with enforcing a bed time when they are not tired. Imagine being sent into bed and having to go to sleep when you don't feel like it.

Groovee · 12/04/2012 10:35

My 12 year old must be in her room for 9pm. I need a break from her constant talking. She struggles to get up in the mornings and when that happens dh makes her go to be earlier which riles her but works.

hattifattner · 12/04/2012 11:07

Bakersdozen, doe he not struggle to get up in the morning? Obv not on hols, but on school nights? you wouldnt say "imagine getting out of bed and having to go to school when you are tired?" would you?

BakersDozen · 12/04/2012 12:10

hatti - He is not quite 12 yet. But what I have learned that if you actually allow them to go to bed when they are ready they wont really take advantage. It becomes the norm that they just go to bed when they are tired. So if they have a late night one day, the following they are tired and may go much earlier to catch up as it wre. A bit like adults. Sometimes we have a late one and then go earlier the next night.

I just find it much less hassle. They all know they have to get up in the morn for school and they do tend to adjust their sleep times naturally.

It really does work! But if you decided to do it, they may take advantage to start because it would be exciting, but they will soon settle down into a relatively normal pattern.

i.e 11 year old can be asleep by 10 pm most nights. Up at 7.
