Hi there, I'm just wondering how many of you still wake your teenagers for school each morning, or how many expect them to set an alarm and wake up and make sure they are off to school on time each day ? I would be interested in your answers please. Thankyou .

My daughter can be a bit of a nightmare to get up. Last term she was late a few times because she was up a bit late and faffing about.

We seem to now settle on a routine of me putting her light on at about 7am and leaving her to it

DD sets her own alarm. she gets herself up and goes downstairs for her breakfast. I get up an hour before DD so i can shower and be ready for work. I have to leave 40 minuets after DD gets up.

DS1 gets himself up a 6.05, then DH gets up at 6.20. He wakes DS2 up around 6.40am.

We DH has to make sure the boys are up because otherwise they'd miss their buses to school/college and there isn't another one.

My DD 16, sets own alarm, gets up and showers etc. Has breakfast and usually leaves the house as i get myself and younger daughter ready.
We have strict shower / bathroom rota and if get up late then do not get shower time

I wake my two teenage DSs but then they get themselves up and ready. They make sure they are out of the house in time. We bought DS1 an alarm that sets off a thingy that flies round the room and that you need to catch and put back on to stop the noise. He said he thought he was going to have a heart attack and never wanted to use an alarm clock again Grin

I like the sound of that alarm that flies around the room - sounds like something from harry potterGrin DS2 had an alarm with a bullseye you had to aim a laser at to stop it - novelty soon wore off...

From age 13 or so they have woken themselves up with their alarm clocks. We have one bathroom, so first up is best groomed going out in the morning. They take a shower the night before. I don't think I would have the nerve to go into DS's room in the morning but I knocked on his door if I found it closed and there was no sign of life inside. He was never late to school and I think it's because he knew he is on his own waking himself up.

If it looks as if DD2's alarm clock hasn't gone off I wake her as otherwise she would sleep all day. This happens about twice a month. DD4 (10) has to be physically dragged from the bed most mornings. I occasionally spray cold water on her because I get tired of it. The cat sometimes jumps up and sits on her too.

Yes. I get up, wake the eldest two up, lie on sofa under blanket snoozing while they shower and then throw some breakfast at them in a most maternal style. I quite like that time of day tbh.

All these teenagers desperate for their morning shower! I wish my two were bothered about washing this much! The threat of missing their shower slot is definitely not enough to get them up - we have a routine which involves quite a lot of knocking, calling and repeated time reminders from me but it seems to work OK most of the time. My main concern in the mornings is breakfast - I often can't get either of them to eat anything.
