Please share? I've thought of volunteering his time but that would just be controlling wouldn't it Grin
Is there hope?

Grin linerunner I've recently done the come and cook with me and he has enjoyed it while protesting.

I've been surprised by how many do cook/bake so maybe that's the way to go some of the time - at least it may help later on.

Agree with others that the motivation at least to start with may need to be external. DS was interested in joining army cadets but did need a certain amount of encouragement. Things improved markedly once he got issued with kit. He is now slightly obsessive about ironing his kit (yes, they are taught this) and bulling his boots.

strumming the guitar, writing poetry and listening to jazz

Indeed, there's nothing wrong with a boot up the arse. Smile

Oops, sorry, didn't see the lamping questions. Yes, it's night hunting for rabbits. As I said it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's a traditional pastime around here and it does result in a fully-stocked freezer!

Does she skin them?

I used to love going sea fishing with my dad but he always did the gutting. He showed me how to do it, and I could do it if I had to, but he never had the patience to wait! We're talking about 3 foot long cod and eels, so I had to take a run up ...

nothing controlling about volunteering imo Grin dd goes to a drama group and guides and she is going to volunteer (off her own back Wink ) at rainbows I think there is a lot of things they could do and be interested in if we look for it ,

DD14 does spend quite a bit of time on PC and also plays on-line X-box.
But her big passion is music - plays 3 instruments, all day saturday at music school + 2 or 3 days after school music related activities. As music is what she wants to do professionally, not sure that counts.

Still finds time for her other interests that are cooking and jewellery making.

She's hoping to start D of E soon, but will try and incorporate as much of her existing activities into that is as possible, or there just won't be time.

When time is short, it is the GCSE work that gets rushed unfortunately. So it is not always a good thing to have so much going on!

Forgot to add above that DD volunteers at a special needs playscheme on a saturday morning and a sn swimming club on a sunday afternoon.

My dds aren't sporty either, nor into gaming. But they like drama and singing etc so they go to theatre school and have singing lessons and dd2 does various dance classes.

There are a good few boys in their theatre groups - great way to meet girls!

And I forgot to mention the cooking. DS now has to cook tea on a Saturday night, which includes planning and shopping (when necessary). He was inspired to learn to cook after months of nagging at him that he would not just leave home at 18 and know how to do it when he started his DofE and realised he would have to know how to cook for his expedition (although he had now discovered he is more likely to be eating packs of supernoodles and pasta rather than morrocan lamb or spaghetti bolognaise)!! But he is still happy to do it.

LineRunner - yes she does, she's better than me! I can just about get the breasts off pheasants, but that's it. She is a farm girl and has always kept her own animals but has recently found a farmer boyfriend so has taken a bigger interest in the things he seems to enjoy...hmm!

LineRunner · 06/02/2012 19:17

Impressive!
