Christmas Present Budget

Hi, I am trying to work out how much I should reasonably budget for Christmas present(s)for my 15 year old son, and would really appreciate some feedback from other parents... My DH thinks £100 is enough but that seems a bit stingy to me! We used to spend more but then thought we were spoiling him so we reduced the budget but now I think we have cut it back too far. Any opinions?

£100 sounds really good to me, especially as you are probably not the only one buying for him!

I seem to recall we got £100 in our mid-late teens. That was in the late 80's/early 90's (shit I'm old) but tbh, £100 still sounds reasonable to me.

we aim at around £100, actually trying to cut back as my ex wont contibute the their pressies.
so going for a main at around £70 and a few bits.
with 5 children it all gets a bit expensive!

£100 sounds plenty to me. We probably spend about that much with a big presie and stocking stuff. Yes my kids still love to put out a stocking ( well a christmas bag )for santa!

when i was a teen my parents spent about that, but i had the option of waiting for them to buy whatever i wanted in the sales so i got more for my/their money. still got stocking filler stuff to open on xmas day

We spend a bit more than that but they have no-one else to buy them pressies. It was the same when they were little - at Easter other children seemed to have loads of loads of eggs. Ours had one from us and one from grandma. We started a tradition of having an Easter egg hunt which we still do. Even though DS1 is 15!! I buy LOADS of small eggs and hide them round the house and garden - obviously doing a bit of quality control on the way. Birthdays we also go a bit mad. someone (must have been me) started the mad idea of them having the same number of pressies as their years! Some little pressies though, not all biggies.

mother2boys I am so glad your 15 yr old ds still joins in I love to do stuff like that with ds 11 so will keep going and when he gets fed up will show him your post!

Karen last year i spent over £500 each on 2 middle teenage ones, as they are still living at home.
I was devastated as most of the stuff is still unopened at summer time.

I swore that this xmas they would be getting £150 each to go and spend as they please. I will spend £50 on bits and pieces for them.
Along with a midi moto I bought between them under adult supervision.
