Are shops allowed to display images of kids who are banned from shop?

Our local shop has a tyrant of a manager and she takes it upon herself to ban kids on a daily basis my son included. Not for shop lifting or anything serious, mainly because she hates children, has even been known to limit the amount of times a day they go into shop and refusing to serve them if they go in with pennies!!

She banned my son because she yelled at him for not closing the shop door in cold weather and my son said you dont have to speak to me like that...automatic ban. Today I have been livid to find out that his woman has taken a picture of my son from the cctv and displayed it behind the counter as a banned child.

Is this legal? My son is 13, and not happy, he has asked her to take it down and she has refused. I find it hard to believe she can do this when I am not allowed to take a picture of my own children in a school play!!

I am really not happy about this but Ive tried looking it up ut cant seem to find anything about this.

Any legal eagles out there that can give me some advice??

Assuming you've got the whole story from him and he wasn't rude ... what a cow. I would hate to be a teenager now. So much mistrust and demonisation.

Don't know about legalities, but morally ...

Oh Ive known mothers go into the shop and play merry hell because of the way she treats young ones, I have just told him not to go in anymore but your right because he is a teen he is automatically labelled a potential thief and it isnt fair

thanks, ive told him to stay well away from the shop, im just not too happy about picture as many would assume its there for shoplifting which he has NEVER done.
Cant understand how its legal when the world has gone mad with ANYONE taking pictures of kids. I had to buy pics of my kids play because no cameras were allowed to be taken. Baffling!!

Sounds like the type of photo our local Tesco Express displays as the kids concerned have got ASBOS! Perhaps you could check with your local PCSO's as to whether she is allowed to do this or not?

I'd have a word with your community police officer about it - they might have a quiet word with the manager about the way she handles what she sees as problem teens.
