Can anyone help please...my 15yr old dd has a massive outbreak of angry red spots that will not clear up. It's been months now. We have tried everything i can think of to help her.Can anyone sugggest anything that i can get her to use please? Our problem is she is on the books of a modelling agency and could get a shout at anytime so she is desperate now Sad
Am I being over neurotic if i try gp next?

Hi! My daughter had really awful acne starting at age 11. We tried OTC treatments with little effect, then went to a dermatologist who put her on antibiotics. ABs worked a miracle for me as a teen but did very little for her. Dr finally prescribed roaccutane. I had my concerns - it is the atomic bomb for acne and will definitely cause birth defects if you become PG while taking it (not an issue for my DD!). It also causes extreme dryness of the skin (DD's mouth was constantly cracked) and can raise cholesterol levels, which have to be monitored via monthly blood tests. It took over a year but it was all worth it - her skin is beautiful and clear now, her hair which was horribly greasy five minutes after washing is now just normally oily for a teen. And she is so pleased - her friends all noticed the change, she got lots of compliments and she is more confident now. Roaccutane must be used with care but it really is effective for the stubborn cases!

Roaccutane is the best thing EVER - I suffered really badly with cystic acne as a teen and wasted years with creams, lotions and antibiotics. Roaccutane needs to be treated with respect but by GOD it works...
