Which sanitary towels

My 11 year old DD has just had 'the video' at school and has said that she wants to start carrying some sanitary towels round with her "just in case". Are there any that you would recommend as being particularly good for young girls. She's quite petite and I don't think she will be starting her period just yet but you never know....

I buy the thinner ones for my dd, but she doesnt like ones with wings for some reason

No teens myself but I would choose one which feels more like cotton than plastic, as most do these days!

My DD likes the bodyform ones which sometimes come with a free wee case to keep a couple in...

Asda also used to do 'teen' pads which were a bit smaller..

My 11 yr old has asked to take some in her school bag, so I just gave her some really thin pant liners, as she certainly won't start with a huge gush. Once she starts, we can look at other options. She has already told me she definitely wants to use towels and nothing else. I put a spare 'pencil case' in her bag, with a few towels and a spare pair of pants.

My DD started her periods on a school trip to france. I had given her a couple of towels and spare knickers in a small sponge bag to keep in her school bag but she didn't take them on her trip. Thankfully her friends came to the rescue. When she first started she said she didn't like them too thin. I guess it was a fear of leakage.

My dd is 14. She used the adsa teens ones at first and was very happy with them. Now she is a year or so into periods they are quite alot heavier and she has to use the same ones adults use. She also doesn't like the winged type, which surprised me as I thought she would to feel more secure.

Lots of brands seem to have the little tins with them at one time or another.

Also certainly at the school my daughters attend it is quite an open subject and alot of the female staff and certainly the office have supplies incase anyone needs them.

One thing I have done from day one with my girls is give them a small supply of nappy sacks too, so they can discreetly dispose of the towels, we do the same at home rather than flush them down the loo or pop them in the bin as they are. Hope all that helps.

In the early days my DD's also preferred thicker night ones. Even though the thinner ones work just as well, the thicker ones 'felt' safer.

Always Deo Fresh - in handy individual packets. Wings just make them more bulky apparently - according to dd who has used them for a while.
