For anyone who may be struggling to cope with a child with anorexia or bulimia I want you to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I have posted about my own DD on other threads but I want to give hope to anyone out there who is going through the horrors that this illness brings.

Our family has worked as a team to help DD to eat normally again and we now understand that the symptoms of anorexia can be banished with weight restoration, and the medicine that an anorexic needs is food.

It is wonderful to see DD smiling and living life to the full again and, as a mother, the one thing you want is your child to be happy and healthy.

Another Mum that I know has made a short video detailing help that is available to carers and MNHQ have okayed the link www.xtranormal.com/watch/8245295/.

To anyone struggling at the moment - please know that this can be beaten and the quicker you get help the better.

I beat bulimia after 5 years a few months ago. It wa hard and I fought getting better every step of the way. I had a little cry to myself the other day. Because I can honestly say I'm fine. It's the best feeling ever and I (with my family) did it. Thank you yor your thread, I hope you and your daughter enjoy your new life, good luck x

I'm very glad that your dd is better, but I have to take issue with your comment that 'the symptoms of anorexia can be banished with weight restoration, and the medicine that an anorexic needs is food.' Of course that is the start, but please do be mindful of your dd for the next few months, there's no such thing as a cure for anorexia, merely mindful management. This is a mental illness with physical symptoms, not the other way round.

You are right BooBooGlass, and we will be watching our DD very carefully for a long while.

Whensitgunnahappen - I am so pleased for you. Eating disorders are awful and you have done so very well. Good luck and hugs to you x.
