How are you regularly backing up your iPhone and doing Software updates-if you don’t have WiFi at home.

Just as the title says really. I need to do it more often but especially now, as it’s caused some issues with my phone. And I kept putting off Software updates as it kept telling me it needed more space to be able to install the updates. I do not have broadband at home. So I have to rely on occasional doing things like this if visiting family. Or usually in the past was in the coffee shops etc. Managed to do it in McDonald’s another time lol.
But now when I have tried I am assuming the connection is weak or something, and hopefully not connected to my phone. Because it just won’t do it.

And I had a freeze on my phone where it wouldn’t let me do certain things because of the storage issues.

Mine is 64gb I think. I know I have many photo’s but other than that it’s apps taking up space. I didn’t think I have that much, and you should be able to have a certain amount on your phone I feel, even though I know there are other iPhones with a higher storage capacity.

After a certain while they don’t have enough memory for the updates alone. How old is it? I said bye to my 11year old iPad last
year as it couldn’t update anymore and my apps couldn’t update because of it.

Have you tried the library? Mine has good public wifi.

First off, 64gb is nothing but if you want to keep your phone I suggest you buy a memory stick and transfer all your photos to it then delete them from your phone to free up space. Apple withdraws supports for older phones, so keep this in mind too.
As pp suggested, use library wi-fi, but be warned that it would be unprotected and you risk getting a virus.

Thanks, bought the phone in 2023/24 I think. It’s a iPhone 12 mini.

Yeah I was thinking of places like the library etc. But true about viruses. It’s tricky.
In the end lol whilst waiting for a GP appt realised they had WiFi, and did my back up lol at least which had not been done since April 🤦‍♀️

So now it’s just dealing with the Software updates issue.

Not sure without scrolling up, if I had said about Apple told me to do it on a PC and can do Software updates that way, something to do with Microsoft and then not have to delete from phone, but it still means memory is almost full still.
