Help with an HP printer please.

We have an HP printer and used to be on HP Instant Ink (HPII). Due to a combination of our tech un-savviness and HP's non existent woeful customer service, our subscription has lapsed. The printer now doesn't print because all we have are those special ink cartridges that will only work if you are signed up to HPII.

Can anybody tell me which cartridges we need instead? The internet keeps telling me we need 67/305 but those are the HPII ones; I want simple, old-skool ones. The printer is an Envy 6020.

Whether you get the cartridges via an Instant Ink subscription or as a separate purchase they're still 67 or 305 cartridges. The difference is in the chip that's installed in them.

These https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-Tri-colour-Original-Cartridges-6ZD17AE/dp/B08T1HR5CS are 305 cartridges that should work without an Instant Ink subscription.

Thank you so much. So the magic words are "original ink"!
I need to trawl the internet for the cheapest price now. I may be some time ...

Thanks again @GasperyJacquesRoberts

Be very careful using "compatible" in HP printers. Especially if your printer has done an update to the firmware.
Usually they do updates automatically, and the last few updates disable the ability to use copy cartridges. You can probably do a search to find out what version you are on, and when the "feature" was enabled.

Thanks for the warning. I've bought HP cartridges off Dan's website (£27.99+ free P&P). ASDA seem to think that they can do it cheaper (£25.98) but I couldn't be sure that my local one had it in stock, so I went with internet.ink. Other places were £30+ for a twin pack of black and CMY.

Thanks all.

This is the sort of thing that has put me off HP. It's all about them and not about the customer. Nobody would look elsewhere if the cartridges weren't so overpriced!
As I mentioned, we had a problem with the Instant Ink account. I tried to get help but they only offer chat bots and AI which go round and round in a circle and don't resolve the problem; you can't speak to a real human being.
We had only kept the account due to inertia but this (second example, in as many months) dreadful customer service tipped us over the edge, so now we've unsubscribed.Angry

@AntikytheraMech Yes, good advice - I didn't realise HP printers would apply updates automatically.
