Hiya, please can someone help this techie novice I would be most grateful.

Planning on buying our first smart tv & moving it to the wall - do we need an Ariel to plug in it & does the WiFi hub need to be plugged into it too and can I get rid of my bt vision box? I have no idea

Such a boring topic I know so any info is much appreciated Smile

You don't need an arial, but you do need to plug it into your router.

Don't know about the BT Vision box I'm afraid. It might be that the apps on the smart TV replace it, but it depends on the service it provides.

None of our smart TVs are plugged into the router they are all on the wifi.

You don't need aireil to use the apps on a smart TV op and just connect your WiFi using the WiFi password no need to plug into the router unless using the earthernet

@Blueeyedmale Ty for replying can I ask what I would use an Ethernet for? Seriously this is how uneducated I am lol

Using an earthernet cable delivers faster speeds but for smart TV WiFi will be absolutely fine

I only really use earthernet when I'm downloading large files.but WiFi is absolutely fine for smart TV apps.

I use a Amazon Firesticks in our Smart TVs

You can just unplug them and use them anywhere with your Netflix Disney and Prime on

What do you want to watch on the tv? Live
broadcast like BBC and ITV or just catchup like iPlayer and Netflix?

Personally I would always add an Ariel point behind a tv to provide a backup for the Freeview channels, but that’s probably because of previous broadband issues.
