Ai hype, I want real help

No idea where I should be posting this, perhaps AI could have helped.
AI, artificial intelligence in case there's any questions on the subject matter. AI is really hyped, and I'm sure it can do great things but I wonder whether really, instead if trying to get AI to write my reports (medical) they could find a way for Ai to open the files I want to view for the reports, and close my programmes when I'm done for the day. Or could AI improve my text writing, some autocorrect works really well, FB or my phone, not sure, seems to write its own thing, changing 'bit' to 'but' for no apparent reason and if I type 'loint' instead of 'point', it fails to recognise it.

Further, couldn't ai sort the traffic flow, by adjusting the lights to meet demand, thousands of little things that AI could help with but instead we seem to be focusing on getting AI to do complex stuff that we can't actually trust it for.

Tbf, medically AI in breast screening for example has great accuracy rates, but I just feel, we are giving the Ai the good stuff to do, while we are expected to do the mundane.

Rant over, just needed to say this. Sure they'll be lots of opposing views, that's OK.

There's practically a specific AI for any task at this point.

From my own noodlings with AI I'd say it's definitely all in how you word your prompts to generate the output. You have to learn the syntax for prompts and you can have the AI revise it for you.

So for proofreading I would say 'Act as a copy editor for "XYZ work environment", to review and correct spelling and grammar (UK standard) in the following text, analyse context to ensure correct word usage - Ipsem lorum etc...- when completed act as a prompt engineer and refine this prompt for optimum outputs.

When it comes to automation such as automatically opening and closing programmes and files, it would depend on which software you are using some like excel would allow you to script macros but others you would most likely need to have AI write bespoke code or script to install for that programme.

I’m not sure what your question is really. AI, or rather the broader area of machine learning and predictive modelling is already used in practically every area of technology - traffic management is already highly automated using predictive models. If you have a modern car with adaptive cruise control and lane following your safety is in the hands of AI. Every time you login to Netflix or YouTube, an AI model is predicting what you might want to watch based on your previous views.

I think the issue is that the current hype around generative AI (ChatGPT, Midgard and the like) is obscuring the fact that the vast majority of AI is actually predictive AI that discreetly goes about it’s job helping us in a myriad little ways and is very much already part of every day life.
