Morning all! DS (12) is a bit of a bookworm, and our local library can't keep up with him.
I'm wondering about a kindle but can't seem to find any info about the selection of books for teens, does anyone know what the selection is like at all please?
He likes typical adventure books.

There are loads!

Sorry-posted too soon. Look up a few of his favorite writers- you'll see how many there are.

It depends what you're looking to pay. Pretty much every new fiction book published has a kindle edition which will likely cost you £4 - £8 per book.
If you want to pay for Kindle Unlimited that's about £10 a month and there is a pretty vast selection on there. But free options are limited.
I'd recommend signing up to Bookbub as they signpost cheap or free books and you can specify what your preferred genres are.
But Kindle doesn't just give you books, you buy the device and then load books onto it and you usually pay for them (most of the free ones are badly written!)

Does he have a smartphone or tablet? There is a library app that you can borrow digital books on with a library membership and there is usually a lot more available on it then in a local library.
Get him to bring his phone/tablet if he has one to the library and they should be able to tell him how to sign up to the app.
You can also go on Amazon search Kindle Books and enter YA action and see if there are enough in his area of interest.
If you have prime there are books included in prime reading without paying for Kindle Unlimited, but I don't if there is much YA.

Definitely get one. And you can find copies of most ebooks in more ahem socialist ways and then transfer them to the kindle.

Kindles Paperwhites are going cheap today for Prime Day if you want a bargain

If he's going through a lot of books, it might be worth signing up for Kindle Unlimited. It's about £10/month after the trial period ends, which is pricey, but if he's going through a book or two a week, might be worth it.

@IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook I have just bought a Kindle Paperwhite in the Prime sale because my Kobo is dying. I have around 200 books on it and never paid for one of them Grin as you say there are ways to find free versions of the book. Dh has assured me he can side load my Kobo books (who doesn't love a re-read?) and also still obtain books for free.

@sycamorescrumptious Kindle Paperwhite is on sale on Amazon Prime and comes with 3 months of free Kindle Unlimited, well mine does I bought the one with no ads for £109 ish. I have just read loads of reviews, there are lots on Youtube comparing the different Kindles, really helpful in making a decision. I just wanted another ereader, I don't want to make notes etc hence the Paperwhite.
